I am waffling back and forth between feeling ready, and feeling complete and utter panic about being not ready. But do you ever really reach the point of feeling 'ready'?

I don't think I ever felt ready. I was ready to not be pregnant anymore.... but the actual birthing process and raising a child scared the crap out of me.

I agree with @artbee: I was ready not to be pregnant but parenting was still a little scary.

I'm 5 days away from my due date, and I'm super impatient to meet our son! I'd be thrilled with him arriving earlier!

I felt thoroughly ready. And then the baby came, and I realized I sooooo wasn't ready. But you never are (I don't think).

I alternate daily between feeling more than ready and thinking "what the heck have we gotten ourselves into!?" this is a week and two days away from my due date...mostly, I just want him to be here

@maybebaby: I kinda feel the same way. I mean, it is inevitable that we are all going to have babies soon so I'd like to just move out of this stage and onto the next one. Plus I can't wait to see this baby!

I didn't feel ready at all until an acquaintance had a surprise baby when I was (we were) 37 weeks. She went to the GI doc for stomach pains and it turned out she was in labor with a baby she didn't know about.
That blew my mind. It made me realize how prepared I really was. I had DH, scheduled maternity leave, financial means to have a baby, a two bedroom apartment, a loving extended family. I felt much more ready after that.

@maybebaby: @tlcbaby: I thought I would feel ready once I finished our shopping list, but now that that's done I don't feel like I've studied our childbirth books enough. I suppose I won't feel ready until he's actually here, and even then its iffy

@grizz: I'm at the same point. We have 90% of the gear we need, but now I'm feeling like OMG I know nothing bout childbirth! Or breastfeeding! Or how to get her to sleep! Gah!

I go back and forth. I can definitely relate to the ladies who said they were ready to not be pregnant but not quite ready for a baby.... that's exactly how I feel!

@Bookworm: Oh gosh. Sleep. I haven't even thought about that! haha!! I've been reading up on breastfeeding on KellyMom.com like a crazy person but still don't feel like I'll have any idea what I'm doing.
