On Saturday night, I'm sleeping at a hotel by myself while my husband stays home with Liam. It will be my first night away from him ever and he's 13.5 months. I'm excited, but a little nervous, too! I am definitely looking forward to sleeping in a king bed all by myself and as late as I want. I'm sure I'll wake up early, but to be able to lay in bed by myself for as long as I want is certainly a luxury!
How old was your LO when you first spent the night away from him/her? Were you nervous?

I did when DD was about 7 months old. I was invited to give a talk at a university in another state, and it would have been crazy to fly there and back in one day. I was a little nervous, but I knew DH would do fine, and I made sure to use my night alone in the hotel to get a blissful uninterrupted night of sleep!

DH and I are going to Germany in October and it will be our first night away. LO will be 16 months old.

Mine's 9 months old and I haven't yet. I think the longest I've been away from him has been about 3 hours.

A is 6 months old and I haven't yet. My friend just invited me to dinner and cocktails on Wednesday and it made me chuckle just thinking about being able to not be here at bedtime or if she woke up because she would scream the place down. Plus there is no way on earth I could get into one of my old cocktail dresses. Needless to say I not going and my friend now thinks I'm the most boring person ever!

My LO is almost 9 months old and still haven't. I think in the near future, we'll have my parents stay over and watch him while we stay in a local boutique hotel for the night.

I left LO overnight for the first time when he was almost 2. I felt like I was constantly worrying about him because my in-law's were watching him. They don't make the best judgement sometimes. Luckily he survived, but he came back a different kid. It took a full week for him to return back to normal.

Around 18 months, we also did a couple months earlier but it was only for like 8 hours so it only half way counts.

Last month when LO was 15 months. We were back in the States for a vacation and I spent 1 night at my good friend's house while DH stayed at the hotel and took care of LO.

@Mrs. Jacks: I realized that my first night away from him needs to be when my husband is with him at home. I feel much more comfortable this way, as opposed to having him stay at my mom's house, where he's never spent the night and with someone who has never put him to bed or gotten him up in the morning. I'm glad we thought of this plan to ease myself into it!

Chloe was about 11 months old the first time I left her over night. We went to dinner, stayed up late, then picked her up at 8 the next morning

I had a business trip when she was 7 months old - I spent 3 nights away. She's 10.5 months now and I'm leaving on another trip Monday :(. Although I do like the sleep.

@jmarionsmith: Yeah this friend thinks I'm being totally ridiculous I'm sure, but she doesn't have kids so she doesn't get it. I probably would have thought it was ridiculous before I had A, but when boob is the only thing that gets her down, it's a bit impossible to swan off to a cocktail party and leave her daddy with a ticking time bomb, lol.

When LO was 12 weeks she stayed overnight with my parents while we went to a nice hotel for our anniversary. I think it was easier to do it when she was little to be honest; than if I tried for the first time now.

Nice! My first night away was when M was 10 days old and I was in the hospital with what turned out to be mastitis. However, I haven't willing spent a night away from him yet and he turns 17m this week! We're still bfing and I really like to put him to bed and be with him when he wakes up - I don't pump anymore so it's just easier. I get to spend the night by myself often though - don't tell my husband but being alone all week has been the best mother's day gift. No cooking, watching my shows, lolling around catching up on hellobee...

Our anniversary is on the 22nd and Id love to just go stay in a hotel for the night. I totally trust my mom & Sadie is a great baby, but I know Dan wouldn't be down. He's SUPER protective.

DS is 20 months old and I've never spent the night away. LO #2 is due in late October and DS will be about 26 months old. I know he'll be fine but I get a little sad thinking about being away.

13 weeks and 16 weeks old for week long business trips. She's now 6 months old and I need to leave her again for a week for work. I think it's actually harder now that she's older.

I'm curious about this...my mom lives like a 1 minute drive away and has offered to take the baby overnight whenever DH and I want and are comfortable so that we can have some alone time/sleep in time. I'm totally pumped about this but wondering how much we will actually take her up on her offer when LO is born and at what age.
