My LO (9 months) has worn actual shoes maybe twice. His Grandma made him some cute cloth ones that we use, or we put on socks. He is starting to pull to a stand and as I look towards winter and his approaching the walking stage, I am curious when you found shoes necessary?
I'm also not sure if wearing shoes helps or hinders the learning to walk experience. Any advice appreciated

We started using shoes around 14.5 months when Xander started walking! I tried putting them on him a handful of times before that, but he would just cry and try to take them off!

DD had soft soled shoes when we went out, she was a fall baby and the winter that year was pretty cold.
She started to wear shoes when she wanted to walk outside which was at 10 months. we kept her bare feet when she was at home

It's said that barefoot is the best way to develop walking and not harm the foots development.
I started putting soft side Robeez type shoes on DD when she was crawling because she was rubbing the skin off her toes (!).
Is keep her barefoot or in socks as much as possible but started using SKR Smallers when she would be cruising in public.

LO 1 was 10 months and LO 2 was almost 15 months.

Right now at 10 months, but only if he'll be walking while we're out somewhere like the park.

He started walking at 11 months and he wore SKR smaller soft soles for a couple of months, then we put him hard sole sneakers and boots

Ditto the no shoes until walking outside (and then in the Robeez soft soled shoes), at 9.5 months adjusted. Barefoot for learning to walk is best, from what I've learned. Even now at 2.5 he only wears shoes if we're going to be outside somewhere I don't want him to be barefoot, where there are a lot of acorns on the ground when he's running around outside (he hates stepping on them barefoot, and I don't blame him!).

We just started soft soled leather crib shoes around 11 months. She's been pulling up, has taken one or two steps on her own & I just started putting shoes on her because I started to feel like she wasn't dressed without them. We probably won't do "real shoes for a long time.

I don't think we got her a pair of shoes until she was close to 11 months, and she started walking at 10. It was late fall at that point, so we had to bite the bullet and get her something.

We just started. She's 11 months and walking, but we keep her barefoot at home and at daycare. I only put shoes on her if she wants to walk around outside.

We started using Robeez outside around 11/12 months, because it was getting chillier, so mainly as foot protection from the elements. He didn't walk until 13 months.

Not till 10 months when she started walking, before that she would just go barefoot or wear socks. She still goes barefoot around the house
