We told people right away!
Congrats!!

We had a must-call list we brought to the hospital (my parents, siblings, really close friends, etc)...DH called them when we were at the hospital/gave updates/called almost immediately after he was born.

I did post something on FB when I was all zenned out on the epidural--that we were going to have a baby that day or something of the like. About 12 hours after he was born I made a FB announcement...hadn't planned on it quite yet, but my father took it upon himself to make an announcement on my brothers' walls...

DH called our families from the hospital and emailed everyone else the following day.

I didnt post anything on facebook until over a month later when all the important already knew about it. I dont think its the right place for people to find out such important news. DH did text and call people the very next day to announce.

I posted on Facebook when we were in the car stuck in traffic because it provided a good distraction since I was so stressed. We posted it on Facebook after the most important people had either seen her or knew about it.

I haven't been in the situation yet, but based on friends and family who have had their babies, I usually get a text from the hospital a few hours after the baby is born with a photo and stats. With my nephews, I knew when they were in the hospital. My sister, we are best friends, so she kept me in the loop as much as she could. My brother dropped his dog off at my parents' house on the way to the hospital, so my parents told me. I live several hours away, so it's not like I was goign to the hospital for any of them.

ETA: Oh and for me, I'll probably let our parents and siblings know when we are on our to the hospital. Like I said, several hours away, so no worries about people barging in. Then we will text when the baby is born and call a little while later.

It was a total surprise when I posted as my due date wasn't for another week and I didn't tell anyone I was on bedrest, let alone getting induced. I posted from facebook a few hours after he was born, so nobody was forced to keep it to themselves. Although at that point only my immediate family knew and then I told my group of church friends so they could pray for my induction.

We are not planning on having anyone at the hospital except parents. Then after we will let the rest of the family and close friends know.

We have a similar one:
We're literally going to ER in and out of the hospital without anyone knowing! (except aunts,uncles & grandparents).
As soon as we get home we will announce on FB and trough texts.
I will of course tell you ladies though!!
