How old were they when they started to climb out of crib? What did you do for it? Transition to toddler bed or something else?

I'd be interested in hearing the answers for this. Sometimes I think Henry's going to do it soon but he's only a year old and I think this is too soon. Good news is we've padded around his crib with foam floor tiles so I'm not too worried if he does manage it.

We're not there yet, but he's certainly trying! My brother was climbing out at 10 months, which is insane. I've heard using a sleep sack can help because they can't swing their leg up, but I'm interested in hearing other ideas too.

Lo is 18 months and wears a sleep sack so no climbing out yet!

25 months for charlie. he could climb out way sooner if he didn't have his sleep sack on.

12 months. We lowered the mattress to the lowest possible adjustment but he climbed over and fell really hard We took the slats out of the crib and placed the crib mattress on the floor with the crib surrounding it still. It lasted until he was 2 and a half!

@HLK208: My LO is 9 months, and I figure around 12 months he will start doing that too, yikes!

My SO broke both of his legs when he was 1 bc the climbed out of his crib and fell. We're both super paranoid about this, so hopefully the sleep sack will really help until she's ready to transition into a toddler bed..

DS is 16 months old and hasn't tried getting out so far. He wears a sleepsack, so that definitely helps. He's been able to get out of his sleepsack a few times and I don't think he's tried climbing out when his legs were free. I hope to make it until he's two (at least!).

DS was 11 months old. On his first climb out he ended up in the ER with a concussion and black eye. We transitioned him to his toddler bed at that point.

This thread makes me want to transition LO into a toddler bed much sooner than I had planned! That way he will have side rails but it will be low to the floor.
