With LO it didn't really hit DH until our first U/S at 7 weeks. I think it's going to be the same this time around, except we won't be getting an U/S that early this time so it may take him longer. I think what he can't see he can't really imagine, if that makes sense. I think even for me it was a bit hard to grasp until it could be seen. At what point, or how long did it take your DH to really get excited about your pregnancy? Or for it to sink in that it was real?

Hearing the heartbeat at our first appointment!.

For DH it was our anatomy scan. Once "it" became "she" he totally freaked out about having a daughter. In a good protective dad way.

definitely seeing the heartbeat for the first time (8w). he just kept saying for days afterward "you have TWO hearts beating inside you!" until then it wasn't real (for either of us i guess, but more for him)

He was really excited when I told him, but when we saw our little baby squirming around on the first ultrasound he was all smiles and showed ultrasound pictures to lots of people. That's when he became a proud Dad

When he saw and heard the baby at the 11 week ultrasound appointment.

Pretty sure it hasn't yet! U/S on July 25 and hope he will be able to come--make it more real for him!

I don't think DH had a problem feeling like the pregnancy was "real," (it helps that "real" feeling when your wife turns into a puking crazy person), but he wasn't really that into having a fetus. He was excited about having a kid, but didn't get sappy about the pregnancy or feeling kicks, and seeing ultrasounds more interesting than sentimental for him. He kicks into gear once baby arrives

When I had pre-term labor at 22 weeks.

After the first ultrasound. He actually made me test again when I told him I was pregnant and showed him the stick. I'm pretty sure if we had the money he would have gone out and bought more sticks. He just didn't buy it.
Me on the other hand.... every time I see the ultrasound I'm surprised again. I think because I don't feel the baby yet it doesn't seem real to me..... even though my belly is getting bigger

The *pregnancy* became real the day he saw the heartbeat at our 7 week u/s. Until that point, he had been acting like nothing was different and then, that evening, he insisted I had my steak well done!!
As for when it will sink in that we are having a baby, I'll let you know! I'm 37 weeks now and, yep, still not sunk in, I reckon!
