A is 15 months old but isn't even 20 pounds yet. We plan on rear facing even after she reaches 20 pounds though, but a lot of our friends with LO's around the same age have started turning their kiddos forward. So it got me curious when others started forward facing their LO's. I'm not looking for a debate so feel free to just vote if you'd like!

I plan to go to at least 2 as well, and will go from there depending on how big she is, what the current recommendations are, and how she is acting in the car (like if she's freaking out being backwards or not). But 2 minimum.
My sister turned her son around earlier than that because he freaked out in the car, but I don't know how much she read about it either.

I plan to go until 2, however when I went home to Europe during the summer, my family were astounded that we keep him rear facing - they only do rear facing for a few months there. It's funny the differences that exist - I thought that car seat recommendations would be uniform!

My lo turned 2 in November and she's still rear facing. She doesn't mind and so I haven't turned her around. I'm sure we'll turn her around sometime before she turns 3 but I'm not sure when.

DS1 was 3 years 1 month when he turned him forward facing. He still fit rear facing but he went from being fine to hating it in a second. He'd unbuckle and try to climb out of his seat so we turned him forward facing and he was fine. DS2 will be 2 next month and still have plenty of room so I'm hoping we make it to about 3 before turning him around too.

Around 14 months she went through a phase where she screamed during every car ride and every day we said wed turn her. But I'm glad we didn't because she recently stopped. Now she's 16 months so I'm hoping we can make it to 2 years.
With Wagon Jr. We turned him shortly after his 1st birthday, but back then the recommendation was 1.5 years, I think?

I think LO will start to LOVE car rides once he is turned. Poor guy thinks car rides are more like dark cave rides

i haven't done too much research personally, but from what i've "heard" through online forums and groups, etc. it is ideal to keep them rear facing as late as 4 or 5. My LO is currently 19 lbs and 12 months, so I currently plan to aim for age 4 or 5, but I guess I will see as time goes on.

We turned DS at 27 mo.
ETA: We ended up turning him because he no longer tolerated car rides facing backwards. Once he was turned life was good again. He is in the middle in the back and loves being able to see out between the seats. He was 30 lbs at the time.

DS turns two in two weeks and he's RF. My husband is fed up fighting a toddler into a RFing seat. We have tiny cars and it's a production for him to get DS in there easily. However, I'm holding off as long as possible and he's just going to have to deal with it.

I'm hoping we will make it to age two so I guess sometime in the 3rd year? But dd already seems to hate it.
We will switch before two if she becomes too tall.

I was just wondering this the other day. DS is 21 lbs and still rear faces, but it is getting harder for me to put him in the bigger I get...since we have the rear tethers I have to kind of duck him under them.
Ideally, I'd love to keep him RF until 2, but he'll be 17 months when DD is here so I might switch him to FF and then obviously have LO RF. Not sure yet.

We debated doing it this week since we were taking a long road trip, but I decided against it. He's 19 months and 24lbs. We'll likely keep him RF until at least 2.

DD's rear-facing car seat goes up to 25kg/55lbs. So I guess we'll wait until then. After that she graduates into a even bigger car seat (translated to belt chair) for ages 4+, but that's forward facing.

After age 2. T is only 22 lbs and 31 inches at 18 months so id like to wait as long as possible. He does seem to hate rear facing but I want to at least make it to 2.

She's at 2 years, 5 months now and still doing fine RFing! She's about 26 lbs and her height is maybe around 33"? She's still using the lowest position for straps and doesn't complain, so I think we'll keep going for a while.

At 18 months he is still RF. My goal is 2 years but at 6 months pregnant and DS in winter gear its not easy for me to get him in. The safety factor makes me continue to put off the switch but it's definitely tempting!

We are still rear facing at 2 1/2 years old. We will go until he gets to 1 inch under the shell (the height limit). I suspect we have at least another year to go. BUT I have to admit he has been forward facing a few times. Once when he peed his carseat so bad that I put him in his friends forward facing carseat. And he also has been forward in friends cars. But for us, he is rear facing.

My original goal had been to go at least until just before #2 arrives or even longer, but I hit the point recently where I'm just too pregnant to lift him into his seat safely. He's been ff'ing occasionally during vacations, but not for the long term and has been totally happy rear facing.
I pulled something a couple weeks ago doing just that, so we switched him to forward facing at 22ish months. It is so awesome to have him able to climb in the car and seat all by himself!! He's still in the center seat until we set up the infant seat in another couple of months, so I feel better about that too for now.

@Mrsjets: exactly what I had to do- I hate to have to choose, but I really hurt myself one day and had to call rear facing quits. He's just too heavy and I'm too short!

@lemondrop: we have a truck so its a lift, duck, twist motion that is really hard on me - my sister and husband keep saying I should switch him before I hurt myself. It's just such a bummer to not make a goal and I'm stubborn

At 17.5 months were still rear facing. Not too sure when we will turn her.

We'll rear-face as long as our Britax seat allows. The law in NZ is only twelve months and LO still has plenty of room at almost 14 months although I imagine we'll need to switch between eighteen months and two years.
Oh well.
We will switch before two if she becomes too tall.
