I know the moms are going to want to throw me a shower, and we've only recently started sharing the news with people that i'm pregnant (17.5 weeks) but the first two questions out of everyone's mouths have been 1) are you registered and 2) when's your shower? eek, haven't thought about these things yet! DH and i are starting to get registry ideas together, but i was wondering what ideal timing would be for a shower...as in when will i be feeling good still but it's not too early to have the shower?

Mine will be at 31 weeks. I wanted it at 29ish but that was the only weekend available.

I had 3 showers- 24 weeks, 33 weeks and 36 weeks. I think that the 33 week one was the ideal time to have a shower! I was big enough that my bump was really on display but not completely miserable and humongous. It also still gave me time to organize the gifts, get the thank yous out and still purchase what was left afterwards without feeling at all rushed (and my baby was born 2 weeks early).

35 weeks and that was too late for me! But I was due in February, so at my ideal time it would have been around Christmas - so we had to hold off.

Mine is coming up at the beginning of August, I'll be 33 weeks!

33 weeks. I was happy with that, It wasn't so late that I had to worry about LO coming early and I still felt ok. I also had plenty of time to get all the gifts organized, wash things, put them away, make returns, and buy anything that wasn't gifted.

Mine were between 25/27 weeks but only because I had to fly. (Also did one the same weekend as BIL's wedding so I could attend too!) I would have done them later if I didn't have to fly.

I am planning on having two baby showers. Since the baby is due in February, I am having one before the holidays start in November (~24W) and one after in January (~34W)

I couldn't accurately vote in the poll because I had two: at 27 and 29 weeks. I'm glad we did it that early because I was able to wait until they were over before buying anything myself and I also wasn't super huge and uncomfortable.

36 weeks...my MIL had wanted to throw it a few weeks earlier (around 32-33 weeks) but there were too many pre-existing commitments.

@Running Elley: i was thinking this, because we're very type A and i feel like we're going to want to go out and buy everything right after the shower so we're all settled well in advance of baby's arrival!
@kjpugs: ah that definitely makes it more complicated! mine would definitely be local.

So it seems like sometime October will be the best time for me based on everyone's responses so far (i'll be 29-33 weeks at that point)!

@Pirouette: 29-33 sounds perfect! I will say it's nice that I'm 27+2 now and done with showers (except DH's work who are claiming they're doing a dude's diaper shower type thing) so we can get ready for baby. I think I'd want mine done by 33 so I'd have at least a month to get ready!!!!

@kjpugs: I totally agree - that's how i was with my bridal shower too - just wanting it out of the way earlier so i could focus on other things. that's really cute that your DH's work is throwing him a dude shower!!

35 weeks. I was glad it was on the later side. Made it more exciting and fun to have a very visible bump. Good thing we didn't wait any longer though. Shower was Saturday, bedrest on Monday, hospitalized on Wednesday, baby the next Saturday!

I was almost 35 weeks-- it was slightly later than I would have preferred but that's just the way it worked out and it was fine. I wouldn't have wanted to go much later, because I had to travel (4 hours by car).

I had one at 17 weeks (with friends bc we were moving), 32 weeks was my main one then 36 weeks for DH's family, which was smaller.

Mine is end of September and baby will be somewhere around 6 weeks old. Can you add an option for after baby is born?

32 weeks, and then one next week at 38 weeks! I'm glad I have the essentials already though, or else waiting until 38 weeks would be stressing me out!

It is pret standard where I live to have the shower after the baby is born. My mom is a firm believer in after the baby. I am a total type a and would prefer to have it before so that I can get everything organized and know what I have so I can go buy what else is needed but I also understand the reasoning for after. Incase something happens, then everyone can see the baby etc

My work shower was at 30-31 weeks (can't quite remember) and my family/friend shower was at 36 weeks.

34 weeks - I had just got everything washed/set up/put away when I went into labour at 38 weeks.
