DS is three months old and we've been invited to a pool party in a private pool. I asked the pediatrician and he didn't seem to have an opinion one way or the other. What do you think? It's going to be plenty warm today...it was 101 yesterday. I know they have those mommy and me classes...

Maybe just for a bit. 101 is really hot for a 3m old who can't use sunscreen yet! There's also the issue of being in a chlorinated pool.
I would go but probably keep his time in the pool and out in the sun/heat to a minimum.

I wouldn't unless the pool is completely shaded. My concern would be sun exposure since you can't use sunscreen until they are 6 months old.

I should say it is going to be 94 today, but I am not sure if it is shaded or not.

I agree about the shade/ sunscreen, but otherwise yes I would take her. You wouldn't stay in the water long and I would rinse her off right away, but for a short stretch it could be fun. Or, she could hate it and want to get it right away but you never know!
Eta: I would also do a long sleeve rash guard and wide brim sun hat if it's in the sun at all. And try not to go in until after she poops.

We took LO in the pool around that age at Disney. It wasn't 94 degrees or sunny at the time but he loved kicking his legs in it! I would go for a few minutes but try to keep LO covered from the sun.

I didn't at that age. I would just rather them not have all that sun exposure so tiny.

We went swimming when our lo was just under 3 months old. She was fine. We only had her in the pool for short periods of time with a long sleeve bathing outfit thing. Chlorine was less of a worry for me than the sun.

DH brought DD in the pool when she was really little, maybe 2.5 months? We have a pool in our yard, and we bring her in all the time. Pediatrician was fine with it. Also, we mostly kept her in the shade, but pedi said that if we couldn't avoid sun, he was ok with sunscreen before 6 months.

I wouldn't/didn't at that age. I doubt it's a serious problem if you do though.

Since LO can't wear sunscreen, unless you will have like a long sleeved wetsuit with pants plus a big hat, I'd maybe just sit w/ LO in the shade and still enjoy the party?

While I wouldn't take a babe less than 6 months frequently in a chlorinated pool. I'd be okay with rare at 3 months. However, the heat and sun sounds more concerning to me in this situation.

T has been going in water from 3 mo. My dr said to make sure it's well ventilated and if it's really chlorinated limit exposure. Wash off well after. T just started swim lessons and goes underwater now- they start lessons at 4 mo.

LO's doctor told us (and AAP recommends) that a little bit of baby-safe sunscreen is okay before six months. We used Blue Lizard on LO when we took her out on a beach vacation at 3.5 months, along with rashguard, sun hat, and sunglasses, and copious time inside a UV-blocking shade tent. We took her into a warm pool a few times for 10 minutes at a time, and again at 5 months on a different trip. I say go for it.

My dr says anytime after 3 months is fine. She thinks a bad sunburn is riskier than sunscreen.

We took DD in to my parents pool at about 6 weeks old. She loved it!
