I knew exactly what it was and didn't freak out. I knew where my mom kept her pads and I just took them to use. My mom saw the wrappers in the garbage and asked me if I got my period. She was upset that I didn't tell her!

My mom and sister talked to me about it so I wasn't scared. I called my mom at work to tell her and she brought home some pads (she used tampons), and then some super light/slim tampons in case I wanted to try them. I'm glad my mom explained it to me, as embarrassing as it was...because that would have been scary, had I not known!

I did. It was really early in the morning and I thought I was dreaming though. I actually pulled my panties up and pinched myself before checking again. Then I freaked out.

I have 2 older sisters so I knew what was happening. It was still pretty shocking though. I still remember where I was when it happened!

Yes, I didn't get mine until the summer before 9th grade, so I had heard most of my friends' stories by then.

I took me a day to figure out what exactly it was, then I cried when I told my mom because I didn't want to grow up yet, lol. She totally told everyone in the family and they were all congratulating me, and it just made me feel so embarassed.

Yeah, I did. A few of my classmates had got them before me so I kind of knew it was coming.

I don't remember! I just know I was older when it finally happened, so I'm sure I knew it was going to happen one day.

I had health/sex ed starting in elementary school, so I knew what it was when it happened and wasn't scared.
My friend's older sister also told us about periods and my friend and I misunderstood (can't remember what exactly was said) that periods never lasted more than 2 hours. So I remember thinking, even if they were bad....how bad could it be if it would be over in 2 hours? Ugh. Worst reality check EVER!!!!

Lol, they taught us all about it in school. And gave us pads. So I was ready!

I did know what was going on because I got my period after a lot of my friends did.

Yep, many of my friends had gotten theirs, and my mom had talked to me about it and bought me pads so I knew what to do. I was very embarrassed and begged my mom to not tell a soul, but of course my stepdad had to give me an awkward speech about becoming a woman!

A lot of my friends were older than me so I was kinda behind event hough I was only 13. I was waiting for mine to show up and knew all about it but when it finally happened I did freak out a bit.. it was just different in real life than in theory
