We don't really have sick time at work...so we have to use vacation time.

My work doesn't parse out sick vs vacation. It's just all lumped together as PTO.

I am a contractor, so I just don't book time. My husband uses sick days allocated to caring for family members...I think he is entitled to 6 -8 of them per year.

I can use sick time but most of the time I don't use anything. We have a pretty lax policy at our work. As long as my work gets done.

My current job just has "PTO", but my old job had "Sick/Personal" time that could be used for taking care of family members.

I'm pretty sure I have to use sick time first, and then vacation, but I definitely am allowed to use sick time for sick LO. It's also still FMLA time since it's been less than a year since she was born. DH just has 'PTO' as one lump, so it doesn't matter. I *can't* use sick time for a vacation event.

We can use sick time. I use sick time for doctor's appointments too.

Yep, sick time can be used for sick kids, and for their appointments as well.

We accumulate family leave time on top of sick and vacation time.

Nope. Sick time is only allowed for yourself at my workplace which is annoying. It doesnt really matter though because I only get 5 sick days a year!

We don't have sick time so I just use the bulk time that is PTO. I hate it. If we had sick time, I would totally call in sick if my kid was sick and just pretend.

we also are basically expected to keep working, so don't have to use PTO. I just make up work I can't get done another day.

DH only has 10 vacation days and no sick/pto. I stay at home so it's no big deal, but it would be nice if DH could take off without using vacation if I'm too sick to take care of the kids.

My last job only allowed employees to call in sick when they themselves were sick. Coincidentally, employees always got sick on the days their kids got sick. It just doesn't work.
