In bed, in a car, at work, at a store...
I'm really curious about where everyone's water broke.
Not pregnant yet but I'm little horrified that it will break at work or something and wondering how easy or difficult it is to clean. haha

Mine didn't break until I was in the hospital during the transition phase.

I thought mine broke in my mil's bathroom but it just sprung a leak and didn't truly break until way later while I was in the birthing tub (it scared the crap out of me because I thought it already broke).

in the hospital bathroom. I was on hospital bed rest for 6 weeks. The c-section was scheduled, but my water broke 2 days before. So my son came a little early.

At home after about 4 hours of contractions. Big movie-style dramatic gush, which I hear is actually pretty rare.

At home in bed with a big gush.
On the hospital bed while I was on hospital bed rest, a pop and a gush.

Mine never broke til the doctors broke it at the hospital. With my first, I was being checked for progress. I was 7 cm and had just had my epidural inserted. With my second, I was 10 cm, no epidural and about to start pushing.

The doctor broke my water in the hospital after a few hours of being in labour.

At home, just as I was getting into bed. I thought it was pee so I started walking towards the bathroom and it just kept flowing out and once I got to the bathroom, there was a big gush of water.

My water didn't break on its own. My OB broke it .. 6 hours or so into labor.

At the birth center when I was 6 cm. I read that only 10% of women have their water break before contractions start. I figured that only gave me a 3% chance of SROM at work.

I'd kinda known I was in labor for the past 24 hours, contractions just kept getting more regularly close together. I finally decided I was not in real labor (despite the contractions and losing the mp) and to stop pacing that I needed a couple hours of sleep (at this point it was almost 3 am) and within a couple minutes of laying down my water broke.

During L&D, broken by my OB/GYN in hopes to jump-start labor...didn't work by the way.

At home, when I woke up to my alarm clock to start the day. Felt a "pop" and ran to the bathroom so I wouldn't gush in bed or on the floor.

At home on the couch while I was finishing my last few work projects. Perfect timing!!
My biggest fear was that it would break in Walmart since I made so many trips there my last week. My co-worker's sister would carry a jar of pickles with her in the stores so she could drop it and cause a distraction if hers ever broke- always loved that story!

Wow, so far mine is the most embarrassing! At lunch in a restaurant, and it was a big gush. I didn't even notice if it made mess. I was too busy looking and my soaked jeans, feeling a squish with each step because it was in my sneakers, and laughing as we walked out the door. I was shocked and nervous laughing all the way home, haha.

I'm with Umlo ... When I flopped over in bed in the morning, it popped. And then I rushed to the bathroom to try to contain the mess.

I was at home in bed... got up to go to the bathroom at 4am, saw my underwear were really wet, and got the pink tinge on the toilet paper. We called my midwife to see what she thought, and sure enough, contractions started about 15 minutes later. Instead of my water breaking in a huge gush, it must have sprung a leak because I leaked fluid throughout labor.

My water broke as soon as I walked into the birth center. It was pretty comical. As I was putting down the bags it broke

Mine didn't break on its own - my midwife broke it for me when I was 7 cm dilated and I felt a giant warm gush. It was weird!

@cyndistar3: sprung a leak - that made me laugh
@lemondrop: dude, that's a really good idea, though
