I'm guessing most people do their hair in the bathroom in front of the mirror, but I'm wondering where people do their makeup? There is no counter in our bathroom so I do it at a lighted mirror on my dresser, but as soon as I walk in to the bathroom everything looks so bad in the natural light! Not blended well, etc. So I end up going back and forth.

I do it infront of our bedroom closet door (which is a mirror) with my makeup spread out on our bed lol. There is a window in my room which is why I like doing it there.

I have my grandmother's old vanity and needlepoint bench. I love it so much - we honestly don't have room for it in our bedroom but I adore it so it's in there anyway.

I used to do it in the bathroom before LO. Now I do it on the floor in front of my mirrored closet door, while he plays with everything. If I manage to get ready before he wakes up (rare) I do it the bathroom.

@Sapphiresun: I was so gonna add car as an option! In high school I used to do my entire makeup routine while driving. Even curling my eyelashes and applying eyeliner and mascara. So stupid and a MIRACLE I never got in an accident.

Usually in the bathroom - I hate the lighting too! I sometimes do it in front of the mirror in my bedroom too.

Bathroom. I try to get my makeup on before weighing myself in our living room where the scale is. Then, I get dressed for work.

In the bathroom. No counter space at all (like really, no counters) so I have a makeup bag that I put on top of the washer and do it there. Or in the car.

I have a seated vanity in our spacious walk in closet. I love sitting down doing my makeup! Dd loves it too and comes to sit with me and throws everything on the floor.

I alternate between the bathroom counter and mirror and the bedroom dresser and mirror.

Bathroom counter/mirror. I want a vanity so bad! DH has talked about building one in my closet but there's no window.

Mirror/counter in master bath. Sometimes i sit on the counter. We have a middle counter space between dh and my sinks where we've hung a mirror.
I also somtimes do it on ourbfront staircase landing where we have a huge wall size mirror

In the car or at my desk at work :-/. Better about doing it in front of bathroom vanity now that I'm doing BB cream... I only finish it up elsewhere

@mfa_lady: Same. I received my great-grandmother's set when I was in high school, and even though our bedroom is a bit scrunched with the vanity in there with the bed and dresser, I made sure to keep the set together. I also arranged it so that it's near the window so I can use a mix of natural light and a lighted mirror.

Sitting on the couch using my tiny compact mirror to see what I'm doing. I don't know why I don't do it in the bathroom, it would probably be easier.

I want a vanity/desk to sit at in our room. But just standing in the poorly-lit bathroom for now.

Over here, we don't have any kind of plug sockets in our bathrooms so most people do their hair in the bedroom. I do my hair and make up standing at our dresser, which has a big mirror over it.

@Cherrybee: really? We had outlets in our bathrooms, not many but enough to plug in an electric toothbrush and a hairdryer!
I do my makeup and hair in the hall bathroom.

Right now, I use a deep windowsill and a round, standing mirror in our master bath. I do my hair in our downstairs half bath, because there's an outlet right outside the door.
I used to have a seated vanity, but we didn't have room here for it.

Bedroom, there is no counter space at all in our tiny tiny bathroom. The light sucks in our bedroom so I usually check it after in the bathroom to readjust

In the bathroom in front of a mirror. We have a window and it gets great natural light! However, I'm at work today and having to do it in the blue bathroom that has terrible lighting, so there's no telling what I'm going to come out of there looking like.

bathroom. We have a double vanity so we have some counter space, but I keep all my everyday makeup in a makeup bag so it doesn't take much room anyways. The thing I hate is that I wear glasses and I can't see myself in the mirror when I stand behind the counter without my glasses (bc I'm like, 2.5 feet away), so I have to lean wayyyyy over and that is getting harder with the belly. I wish I had a seated vanity in our bedroom!

@Mae: omg I feel your pain. I have been wearing glasses exclusively for the past 6 months (after wearing contacts exclusively for 15 years before that) and it just ruins makeup for me. Off for the foundation, on for the concealer, blush, and bronzer. Off for the eyeshadow and liquid eyeliner (in a handheld mirror suuuuper close to my face). On for the eyebrow pencil (to let the eyeliner set). Off for curling the lashes (again, handheld mirror RIGHTUPTHERE). And I can't wear mascara (MY FAVORITE) because my lashes hit my glasses lenses.
I am getting LASIK tomorrow and I CANNOT WAIT. I already bought non waterproof liquid eyeliner to start wearing a week after surgery (so I don't have to scrub to get it off) and a new waterproof mascara I've been dying to try to start in 2 weeks!!!!!!!!

@mrs. wagon: so exciting! I would love to do lasik some day! I used to wear contacts almost exclusively but I started having dry eye issues a few years ago and I really can only wear my contacts like, once/week (and even then I pay the price the next morning). I'm fine(ish) with having to wear glasses daily but it does make doing my makeup so hard. When I wear my contact and do my makeup i'm like omg sooo much easier.

Rarely in the bathroom --- usually in the living room or kitchen while I'm eating breakfast. Only use the tiny makeup mirrors.

@Mae: hello, eye twin. After the two babies and a year of breastfeeding with the last one, I started with the dry eye and finally the opthamologist told me i was contact lens intolerant and couldn't wear them ever again. So 6 months later, HUNDREDS of dollars worth of drops (5 kinds at this point!), and putting aside the max FSA amount in January, my dry eye is finally under control and I'm on LASIK day eve!
I have some leftover contacts and I hate to waste them... I wonder if anyone here has my same prescription!

I have to laugh at the comments about the natural light, when I get up and am doing makeup, it is still dark outside!

It's interesting that most people do it in the bathroom! It's strange but I've always stored makeup in the bedroom and either do it in bedroom or bring into bathroom to do. I think it's because I like to be as close to the mirror as possible and in the bathroom I need to lean forward a lot (or sometimes still can't reach). I like being literally right up at my full length mirror in the bedroom

I do it in the bedroom in front of a mirror on the wall. All the makeup is stored in a nightstand-y drawer, and then I spread it all out on the bed and go back and forth from the bed to the mirror. Some natural light. I do the tougher stuff (only for fancy occasions) at the bathroom mirror with both natural light and light bulbs above. Anyway, pretty cumbersome! Can't WAIT to move into a house and get a dresser with a mirror and SPACE!

Bathroom. I have a stool sitting under the counter, but i prefer to stand and lean over towards the mirror and get ultra close.

I have a vanity in my bedroom so that's where I do hair & makeup, but it's not ideal since there is not good natural light in either the bedroom or bathroom! Plus it's dark outside when I do it so by the time I get to work and look in the mirror I'm all like, "Yikes! Why didn't you blend?!?"
