What about a tea house or tea room? Community center or room? If you like books, see if a library near you has a room that they rent out? If active in a church, ask to rent a room from them?Small meeting room at a hotel or bed and breakfast?

We did mine at our country club. I went to a friends at a a teahouse as well. Both of ours were luncheons

I recommend a clubhouse in a home community or a country club. Clubhouse would be cheaper to rent and usually allow you to bring in outside catering. Meanwhile, country clubs are more expensive to rent and usually require you to use their in house catering.

For my first shower, we had a luncheon in a "private room" at a Italian restaurant.

I had mine at a minor league baseball stadium.... but it was a coed shower.

I've been to a couple of events, including showers, at small hotels that were nice.

I think a community clubhouse or an outdoor park would be good alternatives. If you have a smaller sized group I like the idea of a brunch type place with a nice courtyard, or a tea house.

We have the same issue as well, my mom wanted to throw me a shower but she lives in Washington DC.
We were looking at clubhouses and planned on doing that originally.
My sister in law asked where it was going to be, and I said we were still trying to find a location. She offered up her house which has a great patio and pool and is free - BONUS.

While I would never feel comfortable asking, she offered. Perhaps you have a close friend or family member that may be willing to provide the space and "co-host" with your mom?

BB will you have anyone coming from out of town that will be staying in a hotel? If so maybe you could use one of their meeting rooms?
