I am partially to paint sets myself. I would put tattoos or stickers with it and avoid other snacks or candy. We are food allergy family but more then that birthday parties already have a lot more sugar/"junk" food then I am normally comfortable with.

Get the paint sets now while they're on all of those school sales. Save some buck and make an impression

@sorrycharlie: haha ok, good! Then I say just do what DD would like best - she's the birthday girl! The other kids will just get caught up in the excitement, and at this age I think the boys just go along with it. At our parties, the kids are mostly in it for the cupcakes!!!

As for paints..what about dollar store or a store brand instead of Crayola?

@sorrycharlie: Honestly? Dollar Tree. Usually has Roseart. Not exactly crayons but good bang for your buck and still washable.

@PinkElephant: I'm even grumpier - I hate birthday favor junk and immediately throw it out. I may have more trouble getting away with when DS is older, but for now I despise little trinket-y toys.

This is Target right now. Crayola is 20 cents more then Up&Up.

Paint set! Such a cute idea!!

LOVE the paints idea - and would like to receieve that as a favor since they are something we'll actually use.

Check out Party City if you have one near you - they had a lot more stuff than I ever thought they had when I went recently. Also, if you've got time to order, Oriental Trading company is always cheap!

I love the idea of paints!

I did paints from Amazon last year and tied a ribbon around them with a cute thank you tag. I think people liked them!

Be aware that shipping from Amazon resulted in a few broken cases so I needed to inspect them and then I had to run out to Michaels to buy a few replacements (defeating the point of ordering from Amazon). They gave me a prorated refund on the broken ones though.
