We got a couple comments about him being named after a character on a tv. The character got killed off though, so I haven't heard it in a while.

My 3 kids have Japanese first names so people assume my MIL had a say and they are right!

Celebrity or a song by a celebrity. Depends on the generation. LO is named after a deceased celebrity and older people get it.

@mrsjazz:
People have no idea who we named them after... Though often they ask about family names since all of them have old school names.

It depends. People who know us know we are huge hockey fans. So when we told them his name they asked if it was after the hockey player. Which it kind of is. We both heard the name when he made the team and we fell in love with it. It sounded perfect with the middle name we wanted and our last name.

Family knows, because both first and middle are family names. Anyone who doesn't know that don't seem to think he was named after anyone/thing specific, or if they do, they don't ask.

People always mention a celebrity, but we weren't thinking of her when we named LO.

No one has mentioned anything, but I can *kind* of tell DHs family doesn't love our second baby girl's name because they keep saying "We looked it up and it says the origin is______". We have heard Greek, Israeli, Indian. They are none of those, so I think they are letting us know it's not a traditional name.
But just like with LO #1, we picked it because it *is* a name in their culture, but it also exists in many other cultures.

Nobody! We aren't related to anyone with DS's name so no association.

I wonder if we'll get asked about Twilight? DH and I never heard the name before watching the movie, but we aren't naming DD after the character.
Her middle name is after my mom, but it isn't obvious.

Little kids think DS2 is named after a ninja turtle (when they hear his full name and not nick name). It's actually my grandfather's name.

Almost everyone who hears her middle name thinks she was named after a television character. I did hear it first from that character and I do love the character so it doesn't bother me. LO2, I already know, will have some people associating her first name with a book/movie.

DS is named after both of our dads, but it isn't obvious since no one really knows my dad's middle name. If they ask, we tell them! Otherwise, I don't think they think anything!

A certain actress who starred in Clueless. It's only partly for her - it's also a derivative of my husband's grandmother's name.

My first they assume is named for a baseball player. My second, my BIL insists is after a book character. Nope.

A character from Entourage. Haha. Really he's named after his great grandfather.

Recently at my son's ENT appointment my husband and I were asked if our son Elliott was named after the movie ET. The doctor was about our age and thought it might have been some sort of generational connection that we would have. But I never even thought once about the movie ET when I named my son!

People always think both DS's names are family names. They're definitely not.

Alice in Wonderland and Blake Shelton. Alice isn't named after Alice in Wonderland, but I don't mind the connection. Blake is not named after Blake Shelton! He is sort of named with William Blake in mind though.

our son's name is archer and everyone assumes it's because of the tv show. in reality, we just saw it on a list of names and thought it sounded nice. we really have no ties to anything!

ive had people ask if we'll name her brother shrek, or if she was named after a 90s musician
