Bernie. I actually didn't mind Kasich (relatively speaking) until he signed the bill to defund Planned Parenthood. Now he's a big ol' hell no.

I find it interesting that you refer to the Dem candidates by first name and the Rep candidates by last name. Not sure if that's good (they're more "human"?) or bad (less respectful?).
Bernie for me, but I'll vote for Hillary if she gets the nomination.

@lawbee11: I was hoping I could get on board with him until I read that he is against common sense gun control. Oy.
I guess that leaves Hillary for me. Not excited about any of the choices. It makes me depressed.

@PurplePeony: same-- Sanders for me but Clinton if she gets the nom. I just like him a bit more.

Rubio...but in reality anyone on the R side as a vote against the democrat candidates.
I like Bernie as a person and how he carries himself - but just am completely opposed to his socialist beliefs.

@lawbee11: @Happygal: Not a republican, but I was the same way as you two about Kaisch. Now I am worried he is going to sneak in and win the republican ticket and end up winning the presidency since a lot of people are so anti-Clinton.

@TrailRunner: There's pretty much no possibility that Kasich will be the nominee. At this point I'd bet money that it'll be Trump. And if it's not Trump then maybe Cruz. But definitely not Kasich.

@lawbee11: I've heard conflicting things about whether he could sneak in and win or if there's no possible way which is what worries me. I keep thinking to myself surely I do not actually live in a country where Donald trump will be a presidential candidate. Not like the other options are much better tho

@lawbee11: I think Rubio stands a better chance than Cruz at this point...plus I think people are starting to realize Cruz stands less likely in a general election...
I am biased tho...bc Cruz scares me...

My lady, Hillary! Have admired her since childhood and SO excited to vote for her.

@PurplePeony: Ha, didn't even realize I did it! I feel like I hear them referred to that way more?

@josina: oh, same here. I just can't figure out whether it's deliberate or unconscious, and what exactly it means either way. I'm sure there's some sort of psychology behind it.

I find the poll interesting, because I think it shows how Trump is so "popular." The Republican party is still so divided. If lagging candidates dropped out and the establishment put their full support behind one candidate (I'd suggest Rubio, given that he keeps coming in second, though Cruz is close behind) then I think that person would be competitive with Trump. Right now, it seems like there's the Trump people, and then there's the "everyone else" people and the votes are distributed among too many additional players.

@Mrs D: No Republican has ever won the nomination without winning one of the first three states (and Rubio hasn't won a single state yet). Cruz has a good chance at winning Texas since it's "his" state, and Texas has a lot of delegates. Cruz definitely scares me more than Rubio, but the statistics are not on Rubio's side.

@lawbee11: ya thats true...I guess I was just looking at the momentum angle more so. And for me personally...as I have just started to really research them (not sure I'll make it to vote on primary day since its 3 days before my due date)...the more I read the more I dislike Rubio. Although he has some policies I can certainly see as polarizing to me he is easily the most likeable...(on the R side)

@MrsSCB: Also, one thing to note is this site's users has been usually largely democratic or liberal. I don't think this is a true representation of how it will go.

@bluestriped bee: Oh for sure, I've just been noticing the same thing in the caucuses, too. Like if you combined Rubio and Cruz alone, they would be about on par with the number of votes Trump is getting. I expect if one of them dropped out, most of those votes would go to the other. Part of that speculation is based on my Republican friends, most of whom are firmly in "anyone but Trump" camp, haha.

@josina: @PurplePeony: Hillary and Bernie are definitely marketing themselves using their first names. Hillary's got that H symbol going and Bernie's got the #FeelTheBern thing going. They are definitely getting people to use their first names deliberately.

If voting democrat - Bernie.
If voting republican - Rubio.
Bernie would win out, I think.

@Adira: @PurplePeony: @josina: I imagine Hillary is also intentionally using her first name to distinguish herself from Bill?
I can't actually decide who to vote for in the primary- I can vote on either side and can't decide if I should vote for who I will vote for in the general election, or a vote against trump. And then do I vote for the republican candidate I would most like to see, or most likely to defeat trump?

I would #feelthebern right now, but if I had to choose a Republican, it would be Kasich. I didn't like him as governor when I lived in Ohio, but he's grown on me.
ETA: I will not vote for HRC ever. If it's her vs. Trump, I will have some soul-searching to do. But I might actually listen to him.
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
@LovelyPlum: same. Hence my primary dilemma. I don't love Kasich but he's the least bad...

Complete off topic but seeing the name "Bernie Sanders" in the poll, just made me think of the news reporter that said 'Bernie Sandwiches'. I'm here trying to stop laughing at my desk.

@Foodnerd81: right. You're in NY, yes? What primary will you vote in?

@Mrs D: Cruz freaks me the HELL out. He's such an ideologue thst it gives me the shivers. I would prefer Trump to him any day, hands down.
