It seems most people have a strong bias to always being Team Green or never wanting to be and always finding out before birth. I'm always interested in the stories of why people would do a combination approach.

We're probably one and done, but if we have a second we won't find out. It's one of life's last surprises, honestly, and I love having my husband announce it to me in the delivery room.

I think we might with our next one...I feel like it would be the biggest surprise ever to find out!

Pretty sure we're going Team Green for this one. We're both strongly in favor of it, but maybe if there was some medical reason why we would need to know? I can't think of one, but I guess never say never.

I wanted to know this time because I had a (secret) strong preference for a girl and was worried that if we were having a boy I'd need time to come to terms with it!! Next time, I'm going to really want a boy (in case DH decides he wants to stop at 2) so I guess I will want to know in advance again! If we have one of each and DH agrees to baby number 3, I'd love to try team green! It sounds like such fun! However, if we have two girls I will want to know in advance again in case it's another girl!!! I mean, any child is a blessing but I will need time to get my head around it, I don't want to be slightly disappointed at the birth!! :-

We'll be finding out for all of our babies. I have no patience whatsoever.

we were TG for our first but will probably find out the sex for any future LO's!

We tried to be TG for baby #1 and we were all for it but that got ruined. I think we will find out for #2 but not 100% sure yet...

I was team green for #1, but I think I'll want to find out if we ever have a #2.

I could never wait. I found out with DD and if we have another one I will definitely find out again.

we found out for the first, but we may be team green for others.

We'll never be team green. A surprise is a surprise weather it's at 20 weeks or 40 weeks

We're doing the combination. I really wanted to know with my first because I love all things girly and pink. I knew I'd be so upset if we had a girl and I had to stick her in a gender neutral nursery with gender neutral clothes. I wanted all pink pink pink! And pink is what I got.
Meanwhile DH had wanted to be team green, but he let me have it. And because I already have all of my pink I'm ok letting him have this next one. I already have plenty of pink hand me downs ready if needed.

We weren't for our first, and IF we have a second (not likely, but a possibility), I doubt we will be then either.

We will be Team Green for all - it's so much fun having everyone guess what the baby is - and I can't wait for the in-the-moment experience when DH tells me if we have a son or daughter

My husband has always talked about keeping it a surprise until the birth, and I definitely see the appeal of waiting. I think it'll be even more motivation during labor.

I love the idea of being Team Green, but I don't know that I could actually do it. If we already had one of each I would be more likely to be TG.

If I had one of each for the first two, I'd be team green for the third.

@Bao: How did it get ruined? I had a friend who's midwife said the sex out loud during an appointment even though she had asked that it not be written on any charts, or mentioned. I'd be so sad.

We're currently & will always be Green. DH has always been adamant about this & I'm fine not knowing. He thinks there are so few surprises left in life & this is one he wants to be surprised with.

We'll never be team green because both sides of the family wants to know the sex, and I'm sure DH does too. Knowing the sex of the baby has helped us connect more with the LO. We want 1 of each so now that LO #1 is a boy, we definitely want to know if LO #2 in the future is a boy or girl! If #2 was a boy, I think we MIGHT be team green for #3 since that'll be our final one. It will be what it will be!

@mediagirl: lol!!! I once had someone say this to me about finding out- "you wouldn't open your presents before Christmas. God gave you this gift. You shouldn't find out!"
so rude haha!
We will find out for all!

@VEGMAMA: We had to have a re check of the spine at 25 weeks (already made it thru the 20 week u/s) and we told the tech we didn't know the sex and didn't want to. She turned the screen and we turned away to be extra sure. She said everything looked good. I asked the weight and she said weight looks great, in the 26th percentile for a GIRL. OMG my heart just sank. It was the 2nd time in 12 years she slipped up. Of course, had to be with us. We made the best of it though

Hehe I like the idea of team green, but do and I would neeeeevvveeerrrr be able to wait:) we have found out for both, so far!

@MrsTiz: hahah that's how I feel! Not like we have any choice, either! Waiting 20 weeks is killer for me, already:)

DH does not want to be team green but I like the idea. Our first pregnancy will not be team green, but maybe DH will like the idea for the second? Who knows.

We were TG for our LO and it was fantastic... But now I'm sort of feeling as though I've been there, done that. I've always been such a huge proponent of being TG, but recently, as we've started thinking about the next one, I'm feeling more as though I want to know! DH is fine either way so we'll have to see.
That being said, if we do find out, I don't think I want to tell anyone else (other than my HBers!). For some reason, it really irks me when people know the gender and start referring to LO by name. Both of my SILs have done this and it drives me crazy "oh, James doesn't like spicy food, he gave me heartburn all last night' etc. Maybe I'm just weird but I feel like it takes a lot of the excitement out of a birth when everyone knows all the details ahead of time!

I never went into it thinking I'd find out for one and not the other. I wanted to find out for my first. It was my first pregnancy, baby shower, nursery, etc. For the second I don't really care. I sort of figured out that most of the things baby needs in the beginning are going to be just fine being neutral or hand me downs from dd. And as time goes along I'm sure the next one will get their own stuff too. Plus it should be a fun surprise. So we were team pink the first time around but hopefully will be team green the next time.

We found out for DS and plan on finding out for this pregnancy too. I'm pretty sure we'll be two and through.

I'm thinking if I was lucky to get one of each sex during my first two pregnancies, then I could try the team green the third pregnancy.
