My daughter will by 18 months by halloween and she will not be allowed to have any candy

Yes! Well, he is almost 4, but we let him have candy last halloween too when he was almost 3. But we limit it to one piece a day. We did this for Easter too... we let him choose one piece as his treat if he finishes his dinner. But we phase it out after a week or so and go back to our usual treats because I don't like candy to be in the house for so long!!
ETA: I also limit it to candies I approve of... nothing too sticky like sugar daddies or caramels. Usually it's just skittles, starburst, and some chocolate things, but he prefers fruity/chewy over chocolate.

Maybe? C will be almost 19 months and I still think thats too young for candy. Maybe like... 1 piece of chocolate, tops.

If she's interested, sure - a few licks/bites won't hurt! (she'll be almost 14 months by Halloween).

18 months at Halloween and no.
ETA: she doesn't even know what candy/sweets is yet and I'm hoping to keep it that way for as long as possible!

Yep!! My boys will be 4 and 21 months. A couple pieces each probably.

@autumnlove: I would be surprised if she even licked a lollipop! But if she wanted to, I would let her. (This is the same baby who didn't eat any part of her birthday cake . . . she had a fingertip of frosting and called it a day).

Maybe some (2-3) skittles but I plan to implement a candy buy back program. He will be 2 1/2
GOLD / wonderful pomegranate / 28905 posts
@brownie: haha how do you buy it back if mommy eats it all? Meaning me.

@locavore_mama: I see a Snickers Dark with your name on it!

@autumnlove: my neighborhood better give out good stuff! We do and I expect the same. hahah

She will be 14 months and we will let her have a few bites.

No but I WILL! Haha. We're only going to a few select neighbor's houses that know M, so I don't expect a lot of candy, if any. If she does get any, maybe we'll give it to her (wrapped) and give her a few bowls and she can sort it.

Probably not. He'll be 14 months old by then. If the Italian Ice place is still open by then, maybe a bite or two of Italian Ice, otherwise none for him.

Yes!
We really limit her candy though. Just one piece per day and sometimes a piece could be something like 2 M&Ms from a pack but not the whole pack.

@mediagirl: hahaha - awesome idea to use the candy as a toy!

My LO is 3 and a half and he will get to eat probably 2 pieces that night, then most of it will "disappear" overnight and he will get a piece here and there afterwards. His first Halloween trick or treating he was 18 months old and I let him have a mini three musketeers since they're so soft. That was his first candy. He didn't really understand what candy was at that point and he was more interested in sorting and playing with the brightly colored wrapped candy. He hardly ever eats candy, so on Halloween I will try to let him indulge.

@locavore_mama: I don't eat candy. So, no problems there. But ultimately I will trade a toy or toys for the bulk of his candy. Then of course daddy can keep what he wants and we toss the rest.

@locavore_mama: Half our neighbors dont give out candy because the English dont celebrate Halloween big like we do and then we got SWAMPED because the English people know the Americans give out the good stuff.
I dont think we're even going to pass any out this year. I think we're taking C to the base to ToT there.

@loveisstrange: that is a great idea to take her to base!

LO can't eat most Halloween candy due to his allergies (main verdict being his allergy to milk). I will probably treat him to a lollipop from my stash of Trader Joe lollipops. I don't like the ones with artificial colors.

A 3 or 4 year old tot yes, but not too much. I love caramel apples and hopefully a few slices of that will be enough of a distraction from all the shiny candy wrappers.

Yes, just a piece though. She's 23 months, her Dad introduced her to sweets against my will early.

We'll let him have a piece or 2 this year. Last year he had no interest in trick or treating. But he seems totally into it this year. He doesn't get to eat a lot of candy so we'll let him have a special treat on Halloween. He's not a huge chocolate fan but he loves chewy/gummy things. So we'll let him have some skittles or gummy bears if he gets those in his treat bag. I'm so excited for him!

She'll be 22 months and I will allow her a few m&ms but I think she's too young for most candy passed out on Halloween.

He'll be 18 months, and at this point, he couldn't care less about sweets other than peanut m&m's. So if we come across some of those, he'll get a few. He knows what's worth eating.

DS will be 18 months, and i may give him a piece or two. we only plan on taking him to a few houses around the neighborhood. he has had sweets(cupcakes, whoopie pies) but he doesn't get much, and he's never had candy(to my knowledge...who knows what the grandparents do). but i figure a piece or two after halloween isn't too bad.
