I grew up in a house with no tv's in rooms and DH's family had tv's in rooms. I feel like if there's a tv in the room, our LO wouldn't come out to spend any time with us! He says that's not true.

No TV, no computer. Just a radio and books, lots of books.
I wasn't allowed a TV in my room but my husband was. He doesn't think we'll be able to not let our LO have a TV. I give him the, "you're nuts" look and move on.

Uh this is a battle for us. Hubs grew up with TV in his room and I didn't. I'm really not OK with a TV in our kids room so hopefully I will win that battle. Right now neither of our extra bedrooms has cable hook up anyway but when we eventually move I might not get so lucky! I did have a computer in my room once I was in high school but this was before so many bad things were happening to kids on the computer (pedophiles and cyber bullying, etc, etc) so I don't know how I feel about that yet.

We had no bedroom TV or computer, and absolutely no video games, for all of my childhood. We didn't get that stuff until we were teenagers. I'm really glad of that now. Looks like my kids will be SOL!

We argue over this. Neither of us had one growing up, but DH's friend's children do and he thinks it's a great idea, since they can watch a movie or something quietly in their room without fighting over the family TV. I think there's no need. I'd actually take the TV out of our bedroom as well given the option, but DH is standing firm on that one, he can't fall asleep without it.

I had a TV and the computer was in the office next to my room. Not sure if we will let our DD have her own yet.

Nope, no TV or computer in bedrooms! I never did growing up (and Hubs and I STILL don't). There's really no need to have a TV or computer in your room, in my opinion.

No TV or computer in the room, but the hubby did. I'm going with no with our kids to encourage family time. Even if the game systems are in the living room, at least we'll spend time together and get to watch them play. Worked out well with me and my brother growing up.

We have a no TV in bedrooms rule right now (goes for us too), but we haven't talked about what we'll do when Baby X is older. Or computers and video games. We'll have to talk about that one eventually.

Definitely not as kids... as teenagers, who knows. I wouldn't be surprised if laptops are standard for doing their homework, and I wouldn't blame my teenager for wanting to be able to do homework in his/her own room. I don't think our kids will ever have TVs in bedrooms, even as teenagers- neither DH nor I come from big TV-watching families, and there were never TVs in bedrooms in either of our households growing up (not even in parent bedrooms).

I don't like the idea of tvs in kids' bedrooms, so no tvs.
On the computer front, one of the elementary schools in my town issues a laptop to all kids 2nd grade and up since all of their homework assignments are online. I think it's pretty likely our kids will have their own computers they can use in their rooms, but we should have control over them so we can monitor their usage.

Yes once we got older, it was nice I'm not going to lie. Maybe once they are old enough to appreciate it. It was also the first thing taken from us due to misbehavior!

She already does! My husband insisted on it so he had something to watch as he was putting her to sleep.
I never had one until I moved out on my own.

No TV and no computers. I want our home to be one of safety and accountability. My parents always put the TV/computers in an open family space, we never had anything to hide. And now that the internet is such a dangerous place I feel the need to continue that more than ever. We actually don't even have cable, just netflix, but still there will be no tv. No reason for it I think.
@MsMini: That's a good idea. We don't have either in our room either, though we have. We will probably try to refrain from it especially now that we have lo.

We do not have a tv in our room and don't plan on getting one. So far our plan is to have a tv in the living room and that is it. Computers will be a different story, but they will be monitored!

We have a no tv's in the bedrooms rule. My husband had a tv in his room growing up, I didn't. We'll have a couple tv's in the house in case of conflict or wanting to get away, just not in the bedrooms.

No tv in our rooms! Will be the same for Baby Bear/. Families need to watch tv together. One in the parents room is different, but none for the kids. No computer either!

Fortunately my husband and I agree no TV for any of the kids in their room. When we moved from our condo to our house I was able to convince my husband to not have a TV in our bedroom (he got a huge TV in the family room)...BEST DECISION EVER! We talk a lot more in bed now and don't waste weekend mornings laying around...and we sleep so much better now!

No TV in the bedroom. Neither of us had one growing up and we already make a point of turning off our living room TV when LO is around. It's really not necessary.

I had a TV, but it was black and white and not hooked up to cable, so there wasn't really anything to watch on it, lol.
I got a laptop when I could pay for it myself, when I went to college.
So, right now, we're not in our forever home, but I do plan to put a computer in the office and maybe a laptop in the kitchen. Not in the bedrooms, and def. no TVs in the bedroom, they disrupt sleep.

I grew up with a TV and a computer in my room. The computer I wouldn't use much (there was no internet back then) but I'd sneak to watch scary shows late at night. I actually found headphones and would use them so my parents wouldn't hear!
Twilight Zone and a show with an antique shop that had all these haunted items ... I forget the name.
We're definitely not going to have a TV/computer in our LO's room!

Nope, DH and I don't have one in our room. My DH gets his bedtime TV fix by watching Netflix on my Kindle Fire.
I did have on in my room growing up though.

I didn't have a TV until I was part way through high school. My parents worried I'd hide away in my room watching it and their fears were basically spot on. My husband had one with a gaming system I think by middle school and he admits he was glued to it way too much.
DH and I have a TV in our room, but our children definitely wont until they're much older.
