I've seen it as a middle name but I've never heard of it for a first name.... Is it to weird for a first name? To hippy sounding?

I love it! And I love the nn Winnie. I have an old friend named Winter! She loves it, and is an all-around bad-ass, and it suits her. Her parents are total hippies, though.

I like it! Winter is also my favorite season so I might be biased. Summers and Autumns shouldn't have the market cornered!

I knew a little boy named Winter but I think its cute for boy or girl!

@Mae: exactly what I was going to say. It was on the blog this week. Super cute.

I just saw a baby named Winter for the first time a few days ago. I think it's very pretty!

I think it's pretty, but I also think it's a total hipster name.

I love it! But if you don't want your kid to have the same name as a lot of peers, I'd avoid it. It's becoming very popular.

@Torchwood: Noooo! That makes me sad. It's on my girl list, even though I know DH will shoot it down

It's actually very popular lately. I know a girl who named her daughter Winter Lourdes. I think it's beautiful.

@grizz: Isn't that the most frustrating feeling!? Madison has a TON of significance for us (my mom's family is from Madison, TN, DH and I met it Madison county, AL, etc), so I always wanted to us it. Of course now that I'm old enough, married, and finally having a LO, it's in the top 10 girl names, and has been for a while. We agreed on Liam about 8 years ago too, and it promptly went top 10. We're branching out to much stranger names now.

@grizz: @Torchwood: I say if you love it go for it! We were gonna drop Mia as the name for a daughter if we ever have one because its so popular but then I realizes EFF that! I love the name and its back on the list! Mia Catherine would be the full name and I love the ring it has to it.

I love it. I would use it as a first name if it didn't sound too hippy-ish with our last name. We're planning on using it with an S on the end as our girl middle name (winters)....it was my dad's childhood nickname, and he passed away unexpectedly two years ago.

I knew a Winston that went by Winter. Never thought of it as "out there. "

Not for me. But then again I'm super anti hipster in general : )

I'm not a huge fan of it for a first name. I do think its pretty but I prefer it for a middle.

Mrs. Chipmunk just blogged about her little girl named Winter. I like the name!

I think it's nice! I guess it could be read a little hipster/hippy, but the one Winter I know in real life is 32 and doesn't fit either description

@deerylou: I love that you said twee
I know only one other person who uses it and i love it.
Winter is way too hipster for me. I know a dog named that so I wouldn't name our kid that, but to each their own!

@stargal: my next door neighbor growing up was Winter. Her siblings were Summer, Spring and Fall.
