I need to keep track of LO 2's words for an upcoming Dr's appt. Should I track words that she said once and never again?

@autumnlove: i would only count words said multiple times in the correct context. it was hard with olive because she lost a lot of words that she had been using regularly around 15-16 months.
but around 22 months she had a word explosion.

Our ped has us count words that are used once or twice as long as they were used in the correct context.

@Mrs. Bee: Yeah, she is 14 months and the list is pretty short for words that she uses frequently in the correct context. Socks, block (boc!), mama, ma, dada, ball, BA-nana, wawa.

I don't. Just words that are used regularly and with meaning. But they don't have to sound perfect, and depending on age animal sounds, etc. can count as well.

I just tried to do that this weekend with DH - so difficult to choose which 'words' to include!!
I decided that she had to be able to say them on her own in the right context. She's juuust getting to the point where we can ask her to say a specific word and she'll try to mimic it - DH was trying to count those words. I don't think so... -

@autumnlove: Hah, moo is totally on our list! Without animal sounds it would be a VERY short list
