That would make me so mad! I think my advice would be to just consider how quitting would impact your career (If that's something that's important to you). I've quit jobs when I was fed up with things and though it made me feel better initially it didn't really help my career and I think it was part of why I was stuck in a rut job-wise for a little while. Recently I was really upset about some work situations and was really close to taking a job with less pay and not anything really much better but decided long-term it wouldn't benefit me so I waited it out another month and ended up getting a much better job and I am SO happy I didn't give up.

On the other hand your situation sounds pretty messed up and that is so terrible that you are unable to get the holiday you requested off!!! If you know that you would be able to get something better in January I would say go for it but just make sure you think it though!

What would happen if you lose that shift permanently? Start looking for a job now and leave when you have one lined up. Work less but don't quit.

Wow! I would get out of there and enjoy my holiday. You still have time to give them two weeks notice so they shouldn't technically be able to give you a bad reference. Someone in HR may know better than me, but I thought they could only say if you were "rehireable" or not.

Also, you may not know everything your boss is dealing with regard to time off requests and other employees. It may have nothing to do with you, and you may have just gotten caught in the crossfire, so to speak.
