i admit i would be majorly sad. One of our "critera" for names was nothing to popular bc we didnt want anything common.... But now that we named him an even more uncommon name, that we expected ( not heard of a lot and not listed on the SS top 1000) i really like that he will not meet to many people with the same name.... i would be bummed if it got popular!

I probably would. Ours isn't an uncommon name, but it's not super common, either. I wonder how all the people that gave their kids -ayden - aiden etc names feel ... ha!

I would be a little bummed! But it if happens she will be just like me! Having to deal with the name Amanda....and having 20 other Amanda's just in her grade haha

LO's name is a classic, so I can't mind too much. It's recently fallen out of the top 100, but it'll always be around (much like my own name)

I don't have any kids yet, but we have a list of names we like that are mostly classic but not SUPER common. I would be annoyed if my favorite names ended up in the top 10 though.

I would/will be bummed. I have a feeling in the next couple years P's name will drastically move up the charts since the newest Kardashian addition. Being out of the top 100 was my top requirement & now we'll see how fast it moves up.

I wouldn't like it at all, but I would cope : ) I don't think it will though, none of my family had ever heard of A's name before. It was so hard for my gran to get her head around that she called her '?" in her congratulations card, ha ha!

I'd be bummed if it got super popular-- like to 10, but all the names we've come up with are towards the upper end of the top 100, so they're pretty normal names anyway. Like you all were saying, I'd be really pissed if a Kardashian used my name though. If Princess Catherine used it, on the other hand... No even then I'd be pissed since I'll probably have mine a few weeks after she does and people would think I'm copying.

Our LO's is pretty popular and in the top 100. It was hard enough picking a name we liked, just so happened to go with a popular one.

LO's name is classic and there are a lot of kiddos with his name. It's not top 100 this year but it has been on and off for the past several decades. I'm fine with that! I'm not a fan of "yooneek" names and I recognize that because my preference is for classic names, he won't be the only one in the world with his name (lol and considering he's a Junior, he won't even be the only one in the house with his name!)

I would be bummed. This might make me a bad person, but when I was on baby name sites and someone had one of my DD's names or one of the names I liked for baby #3 listed I would always vote for a different name:)

Not really. LO's name is ranked as one of the most popular names worldwide -- but I don't know of anyone with her name and neither does DH. So although I'm expecting to hear it often, I don't ... and I really like it that way.

I am pretty bummed about it. After naming him a few people I went to high school with had kids and used his name just a different spelling! Way to be original.I will also be sad if DD's name get's popular. As of now I do not know anyone with her name and hope it stays that way.

Yes, one of the reasons we chose it is because of its unique factor. There are people named Jacobi, but they are few and far between.

LO's name is in the top 100... But I will be bummed if it gets to the top 10. I would hate for people to think her name was "trendy".
@Mrs. Pen: I've pretty much decided Cobi is going to be a professional athlete because the only other Jacobis I know of are pro athletes : )

E is in the top 50 so it definitely has potential to get more popular. I'm hoping it'll stay out of the top 10 but if it does oh well, we'll survive.

Actually what sealed the deal on the name for us is that there was a famous mathematician from the 1500's names Jacoby and he developed some math thing called the Jacobian Theory. DH has a masters in math and education and teaches college level math- so it for perfectly

We purposely picked names that weren't in the top 200 (and never have been). One of them has never been above 600... and I doubt either of them will suddenly shoot up in popularity... and I'll admit it, I'd be bummed if they did.

Not really. I am not on the hunt for the most unique name that anyone has ever heard of or a name that no one else has, I just want to choose a classic name that is easy to spell, easy to pronounce, and that DH and I agree upon! My name was the most popular name the year I was born, and I turned out ok

I don't think so. DS's name was in the mid 200's in 2011 but I think it's going to become even more popular since it's been going up each year. I don't really care. It's a name DH and I both like. Plus, we had the #8 boy and girl names for our birth year, and we turned out just fine. His name is more classic, but I'd say mine was trendy. At almost 30, nobody really notices or cares that my name was trendy in the 80's. I know people with popular and unpopular names who love their name and I know people on both sides who hate their name. As far as success, I have friends with very common names who are successful and I have successful friends with very uncommon names. After all is said and done, name popularity just doesn't seem to matter.
