We looked a house like that and decided it wasn't for us. The windows were much too accessible and there was even a door right outside in one of the lower level bedrooms. I am way too paranoid to have a child of any age sleeping alone on their own ground level floor with it being so easy to sneak out or heaven forbid, someone to get in. I'm not comfortable with anything but second level bedrooms.

I guess it would depend on how much I liked the house, I don't necessarily think it would be a deal breaker for me. Keeping a monitor in their room when they are older (toddler, even school age) is a good option so you can listen in on them and know they are safe.

I say go for it! It actually sounds perfect. Might be annoying for the next few years but if it's your dream home..you'll be there long enough for it to work for you. I looveedd having my sister & my room upstairs while my parents were down!

Our house has 2 bedrooms on the main level (master & spare bedroom that will be a nursery someday), 2 bedrooms upstairs and 2 bedrooms in the basement.
So I say go for it!!

You could temporarily move stuff around if you had to, I suppose- baby in your room for a while? That's what we're planning just for convenience. I think there would be some shuffling and inconvenience for a while, but I'm sure in other houses there would be other issues/inconveniences, so if this is the only issue I'd say it's worth it!

For me stairs at all are a deal breaker. But that's just because I'm lazy But if you want a two story I think it's something that you'd be able to work out.

I say go for it, but that's because our house is like that. We have the master downstairs and two bedrooms upstairs. Baby will be with us the first couple weeks in our room in a bassinet, but then he's moving upstairs and away from us! Oh well!!

I'm not overly concerned about it. We have safety gates that we'll put up once he's mobile so that he won't fall down the stairs, and I figure once he's able to open them on his own, then HOPEFULLY he's old enough to go up and down the stairs on his own. I think my brother and I were upstairs and my parents downstairs when we were 3 and 4, so I'm not going to worry about it.

We have a two up two down, but the second bedroom upstairs is huge and we plan on having our kids share a room until they rebel and want their own room.
