I love the crisp clean look of white bedding - but I would fear staining!!!
Would you buy it?

Yup! I'm gonna buy some when I see some that I like! I want to have white sheets for some newborn photos!

I dont use white bedding.. we have some white pillow cases that we used for the wedding and they now look ivory or beige

It probably wouldn't be my first choice, I like color and would fear staining too!

Nope! G is 8 so I'm all too familiar with spills, stains, and mud/dirt EVERYWHERE. lol

not for daily use. i would for a guest room that's used infrequently, but i wouldn't trust myself not to ruin it.

I can only sleep in white bedding...I feel like dirt can't hide from me that way.

We have a white duvet right now. I like the look and crisp-ness of it. We don't have a LO here yet, but DH is messy, will eat in bed, and it is fine. The good thing about it is you can bleach it.
kiwi / 526 posts
I love white bedding! Ours has held up great, and I agree with @Smurfette, the best thing is that you can always bleach it if needed.

We have some that were gifted to us, but I would never buy them. It's kind of gross, but the bottom of the sheets where our feet go has become kind of dingy. its not super noticeable, but it is a bit discolored. We're not dirty people, but I think it's just hard unless you clean your feet before bed (I actually know a few people who DO wash their feet every night!).

We've had white sheets before and it was a nightmare. I am a sheet washing freak, so we wash the bedding every weekend. Even with weekly washings the sheets looked dingy and dirty. Yuck. Never again!!

I always buy white sheets. I hate how dingy they get after a while, even after washing, but I just buy new ones when that happens. I want to know the hotel secrets to keeping sheets white!

I don't have white sheets but I have had a white down comforter for a little over a year now. I love the way it looks, and that you can bleach it
I'm looking for new one though for a change of scenery, but I love our white beds! Both ours and the guest room are white with fun sheets.
coconut / 8854 posts
nope! DH sweats a lot in his sleep, and white....well that would just get nasty
wonderful cherry / 21504 posts
I usually buy bedding someplace like TJ Maxx anyway, so I'll buy whatever feels soft and good quality, even if it is white. However, we do have some white sheets that are pretty dingy in the middle. I never use bleach because I'm sure I'll accidentally bleach something it isn't intended for (like whatever I happen to be wearing) but it probably would do the trick.
@fussygal: I'll wipe my feet with a wet paper towel if I've been walking around all day in flip flops. Especially when I lived in NYC the bottoms of my feet would be SO dirty, it was disgusting.

Our current and last bedding sets are/were white...All of our furniture is mahogany and I think it looks so clean and comfy. Both sets came from Pottery Barn and I think the good quality fabric helped to not stain. Both have come clean every time something got on them and they held up really well.
I actually set H on the bed naked while I grabbed some stuff for her bath quick..Of course she shot out a little squirty poop on the white bedding, but it came right out in the wash:)

I would, but DH is a messy sleeper apparently. And IDK but when he breakouts, sometimes bleeds and stains the pillowcases. Argh! After he did that to a couple of my nice shams, I'm not about to let him sleep on my nice pillowcases. I would LOVE to do a crisp set with monograms though...

We have white sheets. We use oxi clean, white vinegar, or lemon juice with our regular detergent. We just use less detergent when we put these additional products in. Also using cooler water and low heat helps keep the sheets in better shape longer.
ETA: we don't like using bleach in our wash. It is to harsh on the fabric fibers. Our whites have held up much longer sense we have switched to this method.

@PrincessBaby: NB poop (especially BF) always comes out - it was amazing. I didn't have to worry about baby stains until he started solids...

I love the look of white sheets. Like @squid: I feel like dirt can't hide from me.
@Boogs: I think the secret is that hotels replace them often.
coconut / 8475 posts
@Mrs. Pen: I would! But then again DH & I have a very strict policy of no kids in our bed. I only ever change DS in his nursery and I don't even breastfeed in bed. We do this because we want our room to remain our sanctuary we don't eat in our room or anything either.
I would get a white quilt with a white duvet over it so I could constantly wash the duvet.

I love the look of white bedding, but our water is hard with lots of iron and turns stuff orange and yellow, even with bleach. Anything white eventually turns dingy no matter what we use. Plus we have a black dog, so I'd never feel like it looked clean after the first five minutes.
blogger / wonderful cherry / 21616 posts
@TurtleDoves: aww that's cute. I love nursing DS in our bed though. It's so much cozier at 3am to get him, plop in bed and be able to stay half asleep, then put him back in his crib. I love it.
I'm a sucker though - I look forward to my kids sleeping with me

We've always used white sheets and they never get dirty. I just don't feel like any other color feels crisp and clean! We used to use a white duvet too until our dog developed an issue after getting spayed where she'd pee tiny dribbles in her sleep (poor girl!) so I just use a darker duvet now.
hostess / wonderful persimmon / 25556 posts
Nope. We have dogs and a baby. Never gonna happen.

I would buy white sheets, but not any comforters again. I bought a white down comforter and a white quilt and regret it. I live where there is this red clay that gets not only on the paws of my dog, but the fur as well. It looks so nice, but it's such a pain to worry about and try to keep clean.

We have all white hotel-style bedding. The great thing about white bedding is bleach.
kiwi / 629 posts
I've been wanting a set of white sheets and a white duvet cover for a while now. We registered for some for our wedding but we never got them.
I like the fact that I can bleach them if they get really stained, plus I love how they look.
GOLD / wonderful grape / 20289 posts
No way. it's pretty, but our white sheets get stained so easily. Luckily they weren't too expensive. I would never get anything white and expensive.... especially with a LO and a dog around.
pomegranate / 3872 posts
All our bedding is cream colored. Our dog sleeps with us too, and we've never had a problem with stains.
nectarine / 2085 posts
I love my white sheets and duvet cover (and bath towels)! Some Oxiclean or a little bleach works on discoloration. I hang them in the sun when I have the chance, too.
We rent, so I can't always control the color of my walls and white looks awesome and bright against any variation on beige/sand/tan. It makes a tiny bedroom look much, much bigger. I am waiting until our non-white duvet covers get hole-y so I can replace them with white ones!
eggplant / 11287 posts
Our duvet and sheets are white. I would never get anything different! I think sheets and towels should always be crisp and clean white.
grapefruit / 4056 posts
No way! Black long haired dog and cat, plus baby = dingy looking whites! We don't have white anything in our house!
grapefruit / 4187 posts
I currently have all white bedding and I love it! The pillow cases get yellow after a week, but I wash them frequently so it isn't an issue. We also don't have any pets or kids yet which definitely helps. Oh and we don't ever eat in bed or anything like that.
pomelo / 5331 posts
Noooo. I made this mistake and bought a white quilt at our old house. It was in the trash within 2 months.
squash / 13764 posts
We have two sets of super nice white sheets that dh got me for our 2nd anniversary (cotton). They look and feel amazing and so far are still in great condition! We never eat in bed and have no pets though...and we waited til baby was out of our bedroom to put them back on.
