I have too much time on my hands and have been browsing bunnies for sale. Haha.
No way we're gonna get a bunny, but awwww..
This one I found is so cute.

I would get it for myself & just say it's for her...lol

Never! But there is a farmer here who will let you take a baby chick for like six weeks than you bring it back and get like two dozen eggs. That I would totally do- that is my kind of pet for kids, the kind you give back after the novelty wears off.

No! For one I had a bunny as a pet once and it sucked!
Another thing is too many bunnies and ducks get given as pets around Easter only to be tossed aside in a month. So never.

Haha- my grandparents got us one when I was a child. Needless to say it was a disaster. The bunny was mean, not a good pet for us. I vote no way!!

I had a pet bunny for 11 years. He was fun, but a lot of work, and his final days were tough. No bunny ownership in my/our future ever again!

Yes! I had a bunny and LOVED him, I'd get K a bunny in a heartbeat. Plus, her birthday is around Easter, so I'm sure one day she'll get an Easter bunny for her birthday

I might! I had rabbits growing up and absolutely loved them, but we lived on a farm--I'd never had an indoor rabbit, they're very smelly! But if we had enough property or a farm, I'd most likely have my husband build a hutch and we'd get a bunny. But it would probably really be for me, we'd just say it was for LO

Nope. I'm allergic. I was just told no pets by my allergist on Monday.

No we had bunnies for a while and it was an awful experience.

No way; animals are lifetime commitments, not holiday whim purchases because they are cute - on a related note though, if you ever want a rabbit you can find hundreds of bunnies abandoned at any animal shelter in the weeks following Easter.

No...even if we were to get LO a rabbit, it wouldn't be around Easter. Our local animal shelter sends out emails every year about how many families dump their Easter bunnies after the kids get tired of them.

Not sure this number is correct (Gosh I hope it's not) but I agree with the sentiment

I didn't realize that giving kids actual live bunnies for Easter was a thing. No, I would never do that.

Awwwwww so cute!!!! I've had a bad experience with my bunny so I doubt I'll get her one. Well unless she asks, then I will!

Nope. I don't like animals so until/unless our child is old enough for his own pet I won't be buying him any animals!

I raised rabbits for years, show bunnies.
So I might get her a bunny at some point, but not until she is capable of taking care of it, and probably not for easter.

Maybe. My parents gave us a bunny for Easter one year and I loved that thing to pieces. It would have to be something we wanted to do anyway and not just for the holiday. And knowing us it wouldn't be a rabbit but rather a Hedgehog... because I already miss having one and it's only been a couple years.

I would never even have so much as a goldfish! Animals are more responsibility than I am willing to take on

Unfortunately a lot of bunnies end up in animal shelters shortly after Easter. I have no problem with anyone having bunnies as pets but it shouldn't be a holiday-related purchase.

For Easter specifically? No way. But we -do- have rabbits Hansel and Gretal (and both of them are girls).

@hotchildinthecity: I got my two because a lady I was going to purchase a bunny hut from on craigslist contacted me. Her dad had gotten her kids two more bunnies and they didn't have time to take care of them. She wondered if I was interested in them, cage, feed, and bunnies all free if we'e give them a good home. We said sure and we've had them for about 6 months.

The statistics about bunnies abandoned after Easter makes me sad, but I think if you're really serious about having rabbits and you just time it to be an Easter gift, there's nothing wrong with that. For instance, my dog was technically a "birthday present" for my 5th birthday, but we had been talking about getting another dog for over a year (our other dog died when I was not yet 4, and I'd proved my responsibility with pets with a hamster who unfortunately died). We had him for sixteen years until he died of old age and he was my best friend. I definitely agree against animals as whim purchases, but just because they're timed around the holidays doesn't mean they are!
