Mr. Bee wants to get rid of our tv because we rarely watch it and watch almost all our tv shows online. But I am a little reluctant to give it up because of the times I do want to check out a specific show, or just surf the tv.
Would you give up tv? Have you given it up and do you have any regrets?

Yes, I don't watch it to begin with, but my husband would absolutely flip out...even though it hasn't been turned on in over a month.

We don't have cable or satellite at all, not even basic cable. We don't watch much television. We have our TV connected to our computer and any shows we do watch we watch from Netflix/the internet.
If by "TV" you mean the screen itself we wouldn't get rid of it. We use it for playing video games and when we watch shows/movies together.

We'd never get rid of the TV itself. We've had it for such a long time, even if we tried to sell it we wouldn't get much at all since it's so old. But it's flat panel LCD (it's actually just a monitor).
We did get rid of cable and it's been a little tough for me!! We have aereo (with DVR, the basic package), netflix, hulu plus, amazon instant video, etc. that we control with a roku. But it's still not the same.
But we really only watch about an hour of tv a day these days. And the kids watch only things on netflix. Sometimes amazon instant video.

I wouldn't get rid of it, but I would get rid of cable in a heartbeat if my husband wouldn't fuss about it. When he's gone, I never turn it on. It grates on my nerves because he grew up with the TV on all the time and it drives me nuts.

No because we stream Netflix and Amazon Prime on our TV... and we like having the option of renting from RedBox sometimes for date nights in!

Hmmm, I probably would if I lived alone and had a good reason to. We don't have cable right now and watch everything online, basically. For the shows we do watch on the basic networks, I have those apps on my ipad and could watch them on that. And I could watch DVDs on the laptop.
DH loves his giant TV, though, and we stream things from the laptop onto it, so we use it all the time. He'd never get rid of it.

No! If you have an apple device (iphone, ipad...etc.) you can buy a little thing (a little white box) and somehow customize it so you can watch whatever you are watching online on the TV screen, or even just look at your pictures/videos on your iphone/ipad on the TV with just a click of a button on your iphone/ipad. It is something with Apple TV. OK don't ask me how do you do it because DH set all that up haha.

Can't get rid of the main TV but would be willing to get rid of the one in our bedroom. We rarely turn it on, and when we do we only watch DVDs. LO likes watching PBS Kids, and we like to stream Netflix on the Apple TV.

no, i would not get rid of it. i still haven't fully signed on to watching shows/movies online, and even if i were i would want it "just in case". i guess it's kind of like giving up my telephone land line--it took me a few years to get used to the idea of not having a land line.

Probably not? If I lived alone, my 27" iMac would be more than enough, but we use our TV even though we don't have cable/tv service. We connect DHs laptop vis HDMI and stream our shows from there through our network.

we did and we're okay with it since we watch our shows online and not during its regularly scheduled time. We saved so much money this way by only having internet

I went 5 years without a TV (it was packed away).. now it's like the TV is on all the time. Ugh. I'd love to get rid f it, but I know that would never fly with DH.

Not a chance. Nut we use Chromcast to stream or online sites to the TV. We don't pay for cable do really it is just a big computer monitor to watch our online shows together. I can't imagine crowding around the laptop too watch our sites like we did in college...

Even though we can access more and more of shows online we prefer watching shows and movies on a big screen. When we have overnight guests there's always at least one movie night. All of huddling around a small laptop would be miserable.
ETA: Netflix, Vudu, and Hulu all stream on our tv

Yup, easily. I know for sure we haven't watched it since we moved into our new house in early July, and I can count on one hand the number of times we've watched it in the past 2 years at our old place.
We are 100% Netflix, Hulu, and online streaming (AMC, PBS, etc) on our computer. It works for us!

No way! We watch a majority of our tv via Netflix/Hulu but our tv connects to the internet and has hulu/Netflix apps so we're able to watch on our tv instead of our computers/iPads.

We've gotten rid of it before, but we like having it! I don't think I'd ever voluntarily get rid of it, but if something happened and we needed to go without for a bit, we'd make do. I wouldn't be really happy, but we'd make do.
It's the sports that I would miss!

I could never get rid of my TV, satellite subscription, OR my DVR. I might not get much time to watch tv - but when it do get a chance to watch it the feeling is GLORIOUS! I love being able to turn my brain off for a little bit.

TV, no. Cable, for sure. We rarely use TV except when connected to our computer screens, plus its a smart TV that allows for internet browsing. Cable, IMO is a waste of money since we use Netflix and stream most shows online. We'll probably cancel the subscription soon.
ETA: I do love having TV/cable for watching Family Feud with Steve Harvey though!

I think we could, but I'd rather not. We have a computer connected to it so we can watch things online on a big screen. We only have super basic cable, because I like to watch the evening news occasionally.

I wouldn't, only because I hate watching shows on a laptop/tablet/computer. We stream most of our shows from amazon prime to our tv. We could probably get rid of cable--we mainly keep it for sports!

No way. I love to zone out in front of it after a hard day. And with movies being so expensive (sitter + tickets), it's nice to leave our toddler with her grandparents and watch a movie on our big screen at home.

I could, but DH loves his sports and I do enjoy the shows I watch. I could get my favorite shows on-line, but he cringes when I suggest cutting our cable package, let alone getting rid of the TV all together.

we wouldn't get rid of our tv because we use it for netflix, amazon, etc, but we've thought about getting rid of cable. we always decide against it though bc dh is a HUGE sports fan.

I wouldn't get rid of it just because but we totally could if we needed to. DH and I usually watch a show or 2 through Netflix at night but that's it. It's not on that much. We did get rid of cable (it's just Netflix now) and we don't miss it at all.

Probably not. I toy with the idea of getting rid of cable, but DH likes to watch live sports (and I do during football season).

Nope... Our computer monitor is pretty big, but we're so used to watching on at least 40-50" screens.

Normally I'd say never. But I usually only get to watch an hour a night at most. Plus Comcast is the worst and our service hasn't had volume in 3 weeks and they haven't fixed it yet and won't reimburse us so I have the feeling we might actually be cancelling.
