A coworker?
There's a name I really like, but I do have a coworker with that name.
Would it be really weird?
ETA - It's a very common, traditional name (similar to Thomas, William, etc.

Yup. Its unlikely you'll work with this person forever so unless I really hated the person I would.

Depends on your situation: how much you see him/her, how long you expect to be working together, etc. my mom named me the same name as a casual acquaintance because she liked it, and that person thought I was named in her honor... It was a little awkward! I think you can do whatever you want, maybe just be clear as to your reasoning?

For me I think it would depend on how common the name was and if it was for a boy/girl. Our rule for our girl was that we didnt want to "know" anyone with the name but we wouldnt have had that rule for a boy. However we ended up loving a name that a good friend used for her dalamation.

I honestly can't use a name of anyone I see on a semi-regular basis. It makes me think of that person and I want my kids to be individuals.

If it was a common name - sure! If it was something really unique though I'd have a harder time with it.

We used the "jerk test" for any names we liked. I favour common names like Jake and Elizabeth and as long as we didn't know any jerks with the name I was fine using it. We actually know a few people who share names with our kids and we like all of them

I think it depends on how much I liked the co-worker/interacted with them. If it was someone I occasionally worked with, sure! If it was someone who shared my workspace that might have annoying habits or could become my boss, probably not.

I said no, only because it's a requirement for me. I didn't want to personally know anyone that had the same names as our kids. It's a good thing we didn't have a boy, because that would have been very hard to come up with a name for me.

As long as it wasn't my boss. I think that might look like brown nosing.

We were considering using the same first and middle name as a close coworker. It's a name we had in mind long before he became my coworker, and we'd use a different nickname than be uses for the long form of his name. I still love the name, but feel like it's too weird to use now?

I actually did this. I had a coworker who ranked in the top 5 of my least favorite people ever and DH convinced to name Lo1 the same (very common) name. It was a little weird at first but we call LO by a different nickname and I left work after he was born so I never even think about it now.

We actually did this, now that I think about it. But it's a family name so we had it in mind long before I had the job or knew the coworker.
TBH, the only names that I consider off limits are those of my immediate family. Everything else is fair game.

As long as it wasn't someone I disliked, but that would probably turn me off to the name before I got to that point anyway!
