@twodoghouse: we probably would have gone non-traditional with Clementine... But we had considered both Ruby and Scarlett.

@loki: at first I was a little sad that DH 'won', but the second they showed me her, I knew it was Aurora. My husband even have me 'final say' in her name, and it just fit her so well, I couldnt stay sad for long

We have a list, when we meet the baby, it will hopefully help us narrow down the winning name.

We did this with our first and ended up switching first name with middle name.

@Mrs. Jacks: Ahhh, love Clementine! Although Cecelia is an awesome name too!

For Char, we had a list of girl and boy names, and chose Charlotte as soon as we saw her. She just "looked" like a Charlotte to us, so for #1, that was a "Yes."

For Harry, we had a list of girl and boy names, too, but once we saw him, we still weren't sure based on his "looks." We actually didn't name him until halfway through day 2, I think-- so he went 36 hours as "baby." LOL. We were deciding between Harrison and Clark, which are quite different from each other. A few weeks after we brought him home, I heard the name Oliver and fell IN LOVE WITH IT. Although I think he would be a good Oliver/Ollie, I think he's an AWESOME Harrison/Harry

@twodoghouse: isn't it dreamy? Mr. Jacks would only consent to it unless she was a ginger.

@HabesBabe: Clark was our boy name... would've been so easy if this were a boy! haha. Interesting how it was different for both little ones. I'm hoping she just LOOKS like one or the other.

@GrapeCrush: haha ya even though i like DH's favourite name, i don't want him to win, i LOVE my name choice! but i'm hoping she is just obviously one or the other to both of us and it makes our decision easy.

@loki: does DH like your name choice? I just have a feeling you're gonna pick Willa for some reason!

@dc yoga bee: Ya he likes it and says he would be totally fine with it if that's what we go with. But he LOVES Gemma and I wish I could get 100% on board with it to let him have it, ya know? He does so much for me and I am really trying to love it for him. I have a feeling we'll go with Willa too haha. Because he's way more easy going than I am!

@loki: LOL! Maybe you let him pick the middle name? Especially if he's on board with Willa, and you really love Willa. If I remember correctly from your last thread he didn't love Dawn? What middle name did he like?

We have a name that we plan to use, but one reason we're not telling anyone what it is is so that we can change it if it doesn't fit her when she arrives. I think your plan isn't a bad one!

@dc yoga bee: ya he will let me use Dawn if we do Gemma. So he's put his foot down and it's either Willa Rose or Gemma Dawn haha. those are my options he says. we'll see!

@Torchwood: ya that's smart, i always worry about people who share the name REALLY early and put it in the nursery etc... because... what if you change your mind? If we named this little girl when I first got pregnant, she would be something COMPLETELY different... because my favourite name DH has changed his mind about and refuses to use now!

@loki: My SIL did that, and I was seriously wondering if she'd regret it! She started calling her daughter by name, and had things monogrammed and everything, pretty much the second she knew it was a girl. It worked out for her I guess; she's never said she didn't like it. But I couldn't risk it myself. Also, I always worried about ultrasounds getting it wrong. I know it rarely happens, but what if?! I'm glad we had the genetic screening so we know with more certainty.

@Torchwood: that is my biggest fear. if it ends up being a surprise boy, he is going to be dressing VERY girlie because i'm not buying any more clothes haha. a lot of pink and leopard print for him but at least it will solve our naming issue!

@loki: I would do the same! He doesn't need boy clothes anyway!

We were torn between two names and decided to wait until we met her. I do think it helped us make the decision, though it was made more on personality than appearance. I know that newborns don't have ton of personality, but I do think you can get a glimpse, depending on alert/sleepy they are, how easy-going vs high needs, etc.

There's a good chance that we will end up doing the same this time (waiting until she's born to decide), but I did find it a little stressful not to have a name initially. The nurses were always asking if she had a name yet, and I felt pressured to decide. I'd prefer to fall in love with one name and have the decision made in advance, but we'll see what happens.

We totally did. DD1 was either going to be Willa, Everly, or Hazel. When we saw her, we knew right away she wasnt a Hazel. then, after an hour or two, we decided she wasn't an Everly, either. she was a Willa!

I voted "kind of" ... We had three 3 girl names & 2 boy names (we were team green). Our girl names were Rosalie, Tessa, and the name we eventually chose.

I had a VERY specific dream about my birth (a girl, born at home, on a sunny day). When that all happened, I just knew we had to go with the name from the dream.

Plus, she didn't look like a Rosie or Tessa. So, it wasn't like the hair color thing, but we definitely had to meet her before we could name her.

@78h2o: that would be my preference too! doesn't look like it's going that way

@Rainbow Sprinkles: i looooove hazel and dh hates it for some reason so i often call her hazel as a joke. but we're choosing between Willa & Gemma! So we have totally similar name taste!

@littlejoy: love those names! i am hoping we just see her and we know.

No, we went in with a name. However, I will say DD was born with dark hair dark skin (mostly due to jaundice) however give it a month and she now has blonde hair, the fairest skin, and bright blue eyes. Nothing like she looked as a newborn in the hospital.

We had two top choices that we compared every new name to. We were pretty settled when she arrived on R but gave ourselves the option to change it if it didn't seem to fit. When she arrived, she definitely was an R!
