Just curious has anyone had an ultrasound saying it was a certain gender and got the opposite when you had the baby. We are having a baby boy any day now but I keep having dreams that the baby comes out as a girl!

Our son was said to be a girl at a 35 week ultrasound! So, everyone was surprised when it was a boy!

@mrsjyw: That makes sense. We did see the specific limb so it's less likely this boy will come out a girl. Haha!
@Mrs. Pinata: That's so crazy and awesome!

@mamawarrior: omg I had this dream before DS was born and woke up crying because I already was in love with my little boy. Oh hormones.. haha

I was supposed to be a boy...by 1982 technology
I did worry my whole pregnancy that they were wrong about M's gender. I waited for several ultrasounds before I would tell people that we were having a girl.

omg so scared of this lol. We found out we were having a girl at 18 weeks 1 day and the tech was confident. But it was so early and with it being a girl… I just have this fear that we're wrong! Not that I wouldn't be psyched for a boy, but we're definitely planning everything (nursery, name, clothes) for girl so it would be a BIG surprise. Luckily (sorta? Lol) I have to have another u/s next week at 24 weeks so I'm going to ask the tech to double-check.

I had friends that thought they were having a boy......out popped the 5th girl.

@rachiecakes: Lol! Maybe that's what is happening to me too! Oh man but if the baby is a girl, hubby will freak out coz he said he wouldn't know what to do with a baby girl. He grew up with all brothers.
@MrsF: I haven't worried about it till now when I'm about to meet him!

@Mae: Yes ask them to double-check for sure but I guess you can never too sure until you meet them
@singingbee: It is possible!!! Ahhhh!!!

@mamawarrior: gah so scary. I truly did not care either way before, but I've now had almost 6 weeks to get used to the idea of a girl and I think I'd feel some loss if I wasn't having the daughter I've been thinking about and talking to.

My friend found out at her 38 week ultrasound she was having a boy instead of a girl!

My friend in middle school was supposed to be a boy. They think she had her hand down there. But that was definitely some much older technology.
This is actually part of why we're team green! I'm just freaked out at the thought of them being wrong!

@Mae: I understand what you're saying. I'm totally excited about our little boy as well.
@Torchwood: I hope to one day be on team green for maybe my next pregnancy.

The only person I know it happened to had an elective ultrasound at week 13 to determine gender. Big surprise when it wasn't what she thought it was going to be, when they re-did the scan at 20 weeks!

I have a couple of friends who were told the wrong thing at 20 weeks - but in every case I have heard of this happening, it was always said to be a girl and turned out to be a boy. I have never heard of an u/s tech saying boy and having it be wrong.

At 16 weeks we were told girl, but at our 19 week anatomy scan it was definitely a boy.

My sister was told her first child was a girl, but he is actually a boy! It was so strange to go about thinking I had a niece, and when I saw her pregnant, I remember talking to her belly and referring to the baby as a girl. Big mental shift when they found out it was actually a boy in there!

My cousin's son was supposed to be a girl. My mom said she had never seen a baby shower with so much pink as that one. To make it ever better, he was born on April Fool's Day

DH's cousin had 2 U/S both saying girl, and along came baby Jacob instead of Madison He's 3 now, so it was in recent times!

@mamawarrior: @Torchwood: I want to be team green for our next pregnancy!
We found out we were having a girl at 19 weeks, but I had a few extra ultrasounds to check out her brain so I asked them to check to make sure she was still a girl at both of them.

I have a friend that had an 8 year old girl and was so excited to be having a boy (wanted one of each, then calling it quits) paid for the 4D ultrasound that wasn't covered by insurance and again, was told it's a boy...came out a beautiful baby girl. But I had always heard that if it happened the other way around more likely. I'm sure it's rare.

I've heard of it a few times both ways, but more from people I'm not super close with, on FB. One was a friend who found out early they were having a boy and then at the traditional gender ultrasound was told girl (baby was a girl.) Two college friends (not married to each other- separate) recently posted they were having girls and then posted that they found out it was a boy a monht or two later.
What I'm more interested in seeing is the ultrasounds!! I want to see a "It's a Girl!" ultrasound that ended up NOT being a girl. I wonder if it's obvious in hindsight or really does look like a girl.

@kjpugs: agreed. I would love to see those ultrasounds!
We were told girl with DD at 13w and told girl again this time around with #2 at 13w but I am still hesitant to tell anyone and buy anything until our 20 weeks scan.

DH just had a friend who this happened to! They paid to have an early gender reveal and they said boy. Then at the anatomy scan a month later they said definitely a girl!
She's still pregnant so you never know!

This happened to a friend of ours - was supposed to have a girl, and had a boy instead! Terrified of this happening!!

So interesting to hear everyone's stories! We shall see with this baby if it is a boy or girl.
