I might be extra cautious because we had a very early loss before having LO, but I would wait until we heard the heartbeat. It all depends on your comfort level.

With this pregnancy, we waited to tell close family until we heard the heartbeat and everyone else had to wait until the second trimester.

We were in a similar position. I was 7 weeks at Christmas, and wasn't able to get in until 8 weeks. I'd really wanted some confirmation that the pregnancy was viable because of a recent loss but they just couldn't see me sooner. We ended up sharing on Christmas Day anyway, because all of DH's family was together and we wanted to share in person.

But you should certainly be able to see or hear the heartbeat at 10 weeks (I think we heard it with a doppler at the Dr's office at 10 weeks). Will they let you go at 10+1 or are they insistent that you wait 5 more days? I'd try to push for the earlier day.

I was in a similar situation. I had my first appt at 8 weeks and they tried to hear the heartbeat but couldn't-- they had warned me that it was normal to not hear it so not to be worried about it, and surprisingly, I wasn't. But that was right before Christmas and we really only see DH's family all together once a year, so we decided to tell them anyway. It was only immediate family that we told (we told my family on FaceTime around the same time, since they were all together). It worked out fine and I did want to tell him mom in person, so I'm glad we did, but I still felt better after hearing it at the next appt.

I would try to get the July 5th appointment. You MIGHT hear the heartbeat then (some people can hear it fairly early - it all depends on where the baby is inside you I think), but don't be discouraged if you can't hear it. We weren't able to hear it until 13 weeks (we tried at 9 weeks and couldn't hear it then). I also had an anterior placenta, so that probably didn't help.

If you're able to get in earlier and hear it, then you can tell your family! But if you don't hear it, I'd wait on telling them. But that's just me - I'm paranoid and waited for our 12 week (which was at 13 weeks) ultrasound before telling family.

Can they see you in July 5th and do an ultrasound so you can at least see the heart beat. For me we didn't hear the heartbeat until 13 weeks despite trying early because the baby was just so tucked under my pubic bone. But we could see everything was developing great so we told everyone at 12 weeks after a positive NT scan.

Have you thought about getting a home doppler? I know they're not usually recommended until you're about 14wks, but I'm sure I remember getting one a bit earlier and managed to find the heartbeat ok.

I'd tell only if you were also comfortable sharing a loss. You can hear the HB and still mc.

we had our first apt at 7 weeks and we werent able to hear the heart beat but we did see the heartbeat on the trans u/s...and even now at 13 weeks we still have not heard the h/b just seen after 2 trans u/s and 1 nt scan...Dr. hopes we can hear the h/b at our next apt in July...

@mrsmate: this. We miscarried at 20 weeks and had seen the heartbeat multiple times.

@Sugar.Biscuit: We heard the baby's heart today at 10+6 (with the warning it might not happen). BUT, it's worth a try at 10+1, right? Best wishes!!
