I would say as long as you are feeling like everything is going good, at 11 weeks I think you mostly in the clear as you are almost done with 1st trimester. I say go for it!

I announced at 9w because I suddenly got super impatient to tell people. I would totally go for it in your case, since you don't mind having to explain later if things were to go badly. Actually, in my case, I realized I'd *rather* they know, so I could have the support.

That sounds like a really cute way to do it!! Unless you think it would take away from the excitement of your LO's first birthday? Not that she'd care though?

I announced at 9 weeks. I had 3 ultrasounds by that point, but I probably would have announced anyway because I would have wanted their support. Also having a previous miscarriage, I just felt like each baby deserves to be celebrated!

If you are comfortable, then go for it. I personally would not be and would wait. But everyone is different with their levels of comfort in announcing pregnancy. I have some friends that told the minute they POAS and others who waited until they were through their 1st trimester.

^^ same as THOU... we almost announced on Mother's Day. It would've been perfect with all our immediate families present. I was around 5 weeks at that time though. I backed out at the last minute (thankfully) and told DH to just wait until our 1st appt at least. I ended up having a m/c at 8 weeks. If we hadn't though, we would've probably announced at DD's birthday party too. I would've been 12-13 weeks. I think 11 weeks is pretty close though.

I would be too nervous if you haven't gotten any kind of confirmation then. Do you have a home doppler? I was picking up on the heartbeat with mine at 6 weeks. I just had to push it really hard into my stomach, right in the right place.

For me it depends on how many people are going to be there? I was similar in that it was still too early to hear a heartbeat at my first appt and my first u/s wasn't until 12 weeks, but we wanted to tell our families at Christmas, when I was around 8 or 9 weeks. Especially with DH's family, we really only see them all together once a year. So we told immediate family then, without seeing or hearing the heartbeat, but didn't tell anyone outside the immediate family until after I got the NT results back at 14 weeks. So if lots of people will be there, I'd wait, but if it's a small family party anyway, I think it would be really cute.

@lilteacherbee: we told our parents at 5 weeks, before our first visit. I felt like I wanted that moment of excitement and celebration. I knew I would have regretted not telling people, because I'd want their support if it ended in a loss.

@Lindsay05: if you'd be comfortable telling them about a possible future loss, you should do it. It's a really cute way to announce!
