I was just about to post something similar! But, I'm having a hard time not only figuring out what to say in response but also just letting people's comments on my size roll of my back! I've had a few people say things like I can't believe you're getting a bump or how I'm "rounding out", but I'll be 20 weeks on Sunday! When do they expect us to start showing?

It's hard!! I've just being replying with, "well, I'm almost half way through" but it still is weird!

I just said something about how happy I was to know baby was growing in there. Or how I'm eager for it to not look like a food baby.

@wahine08: I agree. I also agree with @StrawberryBee people just have no idea what to say so the most obvious change is our size so it's what they first come to

I think most people just don't know what to say. I get a lot of comments about my size and horrified looks when I tell them I have two months left to go. I usually just smile back, but one woman asked me to not go into labor while in the house (it was a show house) and I snapped back that I was NOT that far along.

I would just try to let it slide...the comments will likely pick up as you get further along.

I'm 20 weeks and within the last 2 weeks went from beer gut to pregnant lady, so people have definitely started making comments, but all nice and with good intentions.

Today I feel like I look more pregnant than usual and I got the ol' "hey, you have a bun in the oven!" Yes, yes I do!

In the beginning when I was first showing around 17 weeks I would respond to belly comments with “what are you talking about? I just had a huge lunch. Thanks” The sarcastic tone fits my personality and it seems to make people laugh and move on. Now that I’m 26 weeks and already look like I have some sort of small soccer ball under my shirt the comments of how BIG I’m getting are a little more common. It’s typically coworkers and my response has been “you ain’t seen nothin’ yet”. I’m trying to stay light hearted about it right now since all of my gain has luckily been belly bump. I’m not looking forward to the last month when I figure I’ll start puffing out in all directions on all body parts! At that point I’ll probably just respond with a mean glare and “thanks”.

Haha. According to one of my coworkers I've been showing since I was 8 weeks. Im plus size and if I wore the right clothing I looked pregnant before hand. I just roll my eyes at her & smile. If anyone else told me that I'd tell them they are crazy lol

I've had so many people say the same things over the past couple of weeks... I usually say "that's what everyone keeps saying. I must've popped!" I like that it's an obvious pregnant lady bump and not a "too many brownies" bump.

@StrawberryBee: @PointeShoesTutus: thanks sometimes I wonder how humor comes across on the boards. I have super sarcastic/funny coworkers so I've actually said this IRL. It always gets a chuckle.

@MrsH: I'm the same way. I can't count the times I've typed out something only to delete the whole thing because sarcasm just doesn't play well in online forums. I wouldn't want people to think I'm completely rude or batsh*t crazy. Makes me wish there was some kind of sarcasm font~could be so much fun.

Just say, "Yup, baby's growing!!" And smile. People aren't saying things like that to be rude.

I like @ash 's answer. I don't think there's necessarily a reason to be sarcastic with people when it's obvious they were trying to be complimentary or friendly (though it's really fun to come up with snarky comebacks! ). If they're commenting on your size to be nasty, it's another story entirely. When people say something to me (pregnancy related or not), that is really inappropriate or unwarranted, I generally just give them an eyebrow raise and no verbal response.

I honestly wasn't terribly offended by comments on my bump - I was excited that people could finally tell I was pregnant. I only comment on belly size to my close friends, but I usually say something along the lines of "omigosh I think I can see bump today! you look so cute!" Hope I'm not inadvertently upsetting anyone.
