When I went to the wedding where I faked it, they used soda water with the cranberry for my "vodka cran". It was good! Had a little fizz, but looked like an alcoholic drink!

Strawberry daiquiri or arnold palmer!

club soda w/lime looks like vodka soda or a vodka tonic.

Orange juice and club soda or spicy tomato juice for daytime. Cranberry and club soda or just club soda and lime for night.

@dagret: Ditto here. Soda water and lime in a short tumbler looks like a vodka tonic.

Totally agree with the cranberry/soda with a lime...delicious and looks real!

@MrsH: I'm not pregnant, but sometimes I drink vodka soda with barlime. SO just get that without the vodka

My friend who is pregnant drank a virgin Caesar this weekend as well.

@Mrs. Champagne: Haha-- maybe it works best if everyone else IS drinking a lot! By the time we all sat down at dinner no one would have noticed either way, and it was easy to hide during cocktail hour with walking around to different groups.

My future BIL noticed I wasn't drinking at their engagement party. I was sitting near his parents, who don't know if I drink or not, but he was the one who noticed. He mentioned it to my sister after though, no one called me on it.

Macaroni Grill has an almost convincing Mojito that I just LOVE. You can tell it isn't the real thing but tastes pretty darn close! I love it! I have gone there just for that with friends or DH just so I can get something and not feel totally lamed out.

Now, for drinks that look like drinks while trying to hide a pregnancy? I always got cranberry and sprite. Or just about anything and if somebody really pushed the whole alcohol thing I would just say it has a splash of vodka. Only happened once and they totally bought it.

@Foodnerd81: haha I think it would normally work, but my mom was kind of suspicious so she noticed (because normally DHs cousin is getting her drink on!)lol

It depends upon what you usually drink. I typically did diet coke (or regular coke) with lemon/lime slice, plain cranberry juice, soda water with lime/lemon slide, plain orange juice. It is a little harder if you regularly drink beer.

If you're like me and you have family or friends standing near/practically on top of you the entire time you're at the wedding, I suggest ordering a bottle of beer. Get the beer, take a fake sip and then have to go to the bathroom. Dump the beer into the toilet, fill with tap water. The beer bottle is colored so you can't tell what's in there.

I 2nd the Sprite with lime! I think the beer bottle is brilliant, too.

edit- just saw it would be off the mark. Water in a martini glass, perhaps?

If for example you were at a restaurant, how would you order a drink that's virgin in front of people? These are all really good ideas!

Ginger ale in a champagne flute. For during the day I order a virgin Bloody Mary which looks real and you at least get something besides just sugar.

O'douls in a glass!
