I have an account for work (former coworker's account, his name is Donald...lol) and that is about it. It seems pretty dead and there are a lot of sponsored posts!
I don't know about the giraffe!
Do people still add new friends after you meet someone? Or is that a thing of the past?
bananas / 9357 posts
haha I did that stupid giraffe riddle. I don't know why I did because I NEVER participate in that kind of stuff. I ended up deleting it all off my timeline. I've been seriously thinking about deactivating and sharing pics of DS another way with family.

@mrsjyw: the giraffes are a little annoying. Most of the riddles I've seen aren't even hard.

@autumnlove: i haven't in a really long time, but i did last wknd when i finally met in person, my bff's future sister-in-law. we've always know of each other through my friend/& her fiance, but it was the first time mtg in person!

I'm barely on it, but I haven't seen any giraffe thing or cancer awareness stuff... I just check it once every couple of days. I've hidden most of the annoying news feeders so maybe that helps?
pomelo / 5469 posts
@autumnlove: I still add new people- mostly from baby groups to keep in touch/arrange meets etc.
pomegranate / 3759 posts
Almost everything! Recipes, "i love my daughter, son, mom, etc" crap, daily updates on how much so and so loves her husband (do u really?)
I should probably deactivate. Lol
GOLD / squash / 13576 posts
We have a FB page for our neighborhood and all anyone posts are complaints about other neighbors. Seriously, if it bugs you enough to post it, get off your lazy butt and say something to the person. I hate social media.
pomegranate / 3204 posts
Everything! The giraffe, the cartoons, the letter game (where someone gives you a letter and then others have to describe you with a word that starts with that letter.) So dumb.
Ugh, I should deactivate but it's the only way my close friends and family keep in touch and get to see pictures of my LO.
papaya / 10473 posts
I use it for only 3 reasons these days - pics of DS for my family, buy/sell/trade groups, and local mommy groups.
bananas / 9899 posts
The Giraffe thing is dumb (I don't get how it's gone viral), what is even more stupid though is the sharing of this article:
People, that doesn't make sense. Please stop the panic.
honeydew / 7230 posts
Those cartoons are driving me crazy! For some reason this week, I've been seeing the same posts over and over and over again. One of my co-workers mentioned she's been seeing the same thing so I choose to believe it's Facebook's problem and not user error.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
Sponsored posts are annoying but I like keeping in touch with people, so I will always have an account.
People posting about deleting people. Just delete them. Don't make a scene out of it!
hostess / wonderful watermelon / 39513 posts
@bluestriped bee: give me a reason to stay! hahaha! I HATE those posts.

Deactivate!! I did it a year+ ago and it feels so good

The bitstrips things got old pretty quickly and, ugh, those stupid postcards with "witty" quips on... In fact, Im generally pretty sick of people *sharing* stuff. I love my kids, my mum is awesome, my dog is at rainbow freaking bridge, share if you miss someone in heaven. For the love of God!!!!
GOLD / wonderful pea / 17697 posts
Oh god the bitstrips!
@Cherrybee: Ditto to all of this!
And the "1 Like=1 prayer" or "1,000,000 and this little child gets a surgery!" I have an aunt that shares all of those things all.the.time.
And freaking game requests. Always. I can't block them fast enough!
GOLD / cantaloupe / 6581 posts
Ughhh the damn bitstrips. Gtfo. Also, the fact that even if I'm not friends with someone they can see my status and pics if a mutual friend likes or comments. Wth is the point of privacy policies then?!
pomegranate / 3872 posts
Those SomeECards, but the user generated ones that can be so nasty and mean! I have one friend who is constantly posting man-bashing type ones that are seriously profane! I have another couple that goes on and on back and forth about their 'perfect' life...bleech
pear / 1609 posts
The bitstrips. I actually blocked it from my feed.
Also Facebook is not Pinterest people. Stop sharing every recipe and craft idea.
pomelo / 5469 posts
I forgot about bitstrips. Cool enough the first time, not anymore.
@bluestriped bee: Yes! The "I'm having a friends cull" post. How old are you? Same goes for the "I'm so annoyed/sad right now!" without any explanation hoping people will say "what's wrong?" etc. Grow up!!
honeydew / 7504 posts
I've only seen one bitstrip so far. I guess my friends are behind the times, ha ha. I think that most of my friends use facebook for the same reason I do - to share pictures of our kids and keep in touch. I occasionally will share an interesting article, but for the most part, I just post pictures of D. For whatever reason, I prefer that to IG, especially for family members. I feel like IG is my family-free safe space, ha ha!

I get annoyed when people are super cryptic in a status message. If you are broadcasting something to a your friends, don't bait for people to ask you stuff.
pomegranate / 3863 posts
I deactivated but then realized I used my FB login for different things and had to reactivate. All of DH's family annoy the crap out of me on FB though and was just friended by an old frenemy who I don't want knowing about my life so I think I am just going to delete it all together!!!
persimmon / 1223 posts
The bitstrips! I don't get it.
@sunny: Yes. This!!!
Generally I don't really care for FB anymore. But i still check it all the time. Mostly I just like to share and see baby pics.
hostess / wonderful apple seed / 16729 posts
I just started seeing Bitstrips within the last week. Are they suppose to be funny?
grapefruit / 4997 posts
I keep it for the recipes that come through my feed and party planning pics for inspiration. I never post anything personal on there anymore.
grapefruit / 4823 posts
bitstrips, sponsored ads, recommended likes, the recipe sharing, people having conversations with their SO on FB...do you not talk to each other at home!??!
pomelo / 5000 posts
Man, I feel so un-hip! Never seen the giraffe, no idea what bitstrips are.....
@cherrybee: I'm with you on the "I love my __________" posts and all that, but I'll cry forever when I friend loses a dog!
My main gripe at the moment are the political rants, and even worse (to me!) are two friends who think voting is stupid--they egg each other on. I also don't get the heavy emotion stuff--I'm on FB just for fun.
watermelon / 14467 posts
What are bitstrips? A friend announced her pregnancy with one, and that was the first time I had heard of them.
My husband has an aunt who tags people in her statuses as a means of asking them a question. It drives me up a wall. That and game requests, "like if you love Jesus/so this person gets surgery/ whatever, and angry memes.

It's pretty dead lately...I still go on but I'm not very active on it!
