@looch: No...I have no idea what I *would have done* but killing another person is not on the list of possibilities. I remember myself at 14...violence and murder were never on my mind or in my capabilities. Come on now.....her situation sucked but the way she did it and what she did: no excuse.

Terrible.. she's just a kid.
How the heck did no one know she was pregnant?

Not going to read the story, but that is terrible. I will say, I don't think anyone is saying "she is just a kid" as an excuse - it is clear that mental illness is at play here which was probably exacerbated by her age and how that affects how her brain processed what was happening and how to handle it. It doesn't make it right, obviously, but I don't think it's useful or accurate to simply say she was evil.
I feel terribly for the baby, and hope that community (and every community) makes changes to spread awareness and instill more preventative measures and education for both adults and children

Posting quickly from my phone...
The issue is at 14, yes, you make decisions but that's not the problem...it is understanding the consequences. At that age you are worried about losing driving privileges or nor being able to see friends. You aren't thinking about jail, eternal bad press, having to change your name, death threats, that sort of thing.
Also, she probably wasn't thinking of murder in the sense that adults use it, she was probably thinking of getting rid of the baby.
I realize we all have different views, but what this girl needs is rehabilitation not jail.
