3D ultrasound pictures

I went to visit my OB yesterday to get my cervix length measured and the nurse thought it would be fun to take a few 3d pictures. I was super excited because we never had that done with my son. Well....when she showed me the photos, I was kinda scared! haha. The baby looked all smushed up and disfigured. She said that's how they all look in these photos because of the fluid and the baby's movements. Her nose looked huge and her lips looked so thin!

Did anyone take 3d ultrasound pictures of their baby in utero? Did the pictures look like the baby in real life?

@banana: haha smooshed! yeah, that sounds about accurate. I had a few 3D ultrasounds, and no, the baby did not look ANYTHING like the photo.

@mrs.jump rope; PHEW!!! I'm so relieved because seriously, she looked alienish and kind of scary! haha. I just blamed it on my husband and told him she looked just like him. =)

I thought my baby's nose looked ginormous. It was sooooo wide I was completely shocked.
she has not come out yet, so I don't know what she will look like in real life. But I understand you being scared!

I love our 3d images. They make me giggle because they're so funny looking. Smooshed is a good term for them. I swear my baby's nose is going to be the size of a full grown adult's when she comes out from looking at those pictures!!

My friend was literally scared by her 3D ultrasound. She thought her baby was an alien.

@mrsdaredevil: Yes!! The wide nose freaked me out! I mean, my DH and I don't have wide noses so I was drilling my husband on what his grandparents looked like, thinking there were wide-nosed genes somewhere down his family line. And she looked like she had a big upper lip but no bottom lip.

haha we didn't because my husband did not want to. His SIL did with both nieces and he thought they were scary and alien-esque. haha

Lol we got a glimpse at 16 weeks and my mom goes, "oh my god she looks like a dinosaur!"

We got some really great pictures that look just like him, and some were are awful. I have 2 pictures that were really weird- one looked like Dobby from Harry Potter, and one looked like Hitler. It was such a fun experience though. The good photo gave us the inspiration to settle on a name.

I did the 3d pictures and she looks just like them. There were a couple where she had her eye open and that just looked creepy.

Yeah I was really worried cuz I thought the noses looked humongous! Depending on when u take it. I have to look mine up, but I think they looked pretty different.

I'm seen some REALLY cute and cool 3d U/S pictures!

BUT at my NT scan she switched it to 3D for a little bit and the pictures that came out of that were absolutely terrifying. The baby was still so small and hadn't really accumulated any actual baby fat on his/her little skeleton….the LO just looked really skinny and odd.

@running elley: That was probably at around 16 weeks right? I'm sure by your next U/S, she will have developed more baby fat! Maybe you can ask her to take some 3D photos at your next one. But don't be scared if her face looks smushed like my baby's. haha

@banana: It was at 12 weeks so even skinnier than baby would be at 16 haha. My next U/S with the high-tech place will be just shy of 20 weeks so I'm sure it'll be a much different picture. I'll try not to be scared if my baby's features look terrifying!

One of my cousin's had an U/S at probably around 20 weeks and she didn't announce the gender but I could totally tell just by looking at the baby's face that it was definitely a boy. He already looked like such a little man! He was born a couple of months ago and he looked just like his pictures.

@running elley: Augh! I hope my baby doesn't look just like her pictures. Unless I want her to have a big fat nose, crooked eyes, and no bottom lip! haha

I have always thought that the majority of 3d photos are scary/creepy looking..but I bet that when it's my own child if I ever get one I'll think it's cute! But I am not really planning on getting one because I don't want it to make me think she's creepy looking before she even gets here!
