we chose not to do any other ultrasounds than what was medically necessary. My baby doesnt seem to like ultrasounds at all so I partially dread having them done because I feel bad for her, I dont know if the sound/vibrations bother her but she fights to get away from the doppler

I haven't had one yet, but we plan to when the time comes. A good number of my friends had them done while they were pregnant, and every single one of them loved it/was very excited about it. Some of them included the 4D photo of their baby in their baby shower thank you cards, which I thought was a fun way to make your investment go further.

I will say, though, that most guys (who were not the father) comment that they think they photos are creepy. Not sure if that's a guy thing, though, because most ladies I know think they're neat.

Yes, best money I ever spent! It gave us a feeling that we could know the little stranger in my belly. We also agreed on a name because we could see it fitting him from the pictures.

I'll see about loading my 30 week shots to compare with his newborn shots onto flikr and posting a link later today.

We're not going to get one - we compromised on finding out the gender and now want how he looks to be a total surprise : )

Nope, we want to wait to see what she looks like. It will be a nice surprise

@prettylizy: I was told 4D basically means you get a recording of the baby moving around. so instead of just a 3D picture you get a CD sort of like a movie. So the 4th dimension is real time in motion

@prettylizy: Yeah there is a place near me that offers that service but you have to pay extra for the cd of the baby in motion and they even add a song to it for you if you want.

@joyjoy: when a friend of ours got it done, everyone (guys and girls) thought it looked creepy! Maybe it was just a bad shot....

i got 2 - don't think i got charged for it. they just kinda did it. i don't think we needed to pay for it - or at least they haven't billed me for it. and i'm glad i got it. i think it may be worth it if you do it later on (like 30 week?), when they look more like what they'd look like when they come out? so it would be cool to compare. but i think it's a splurge and not a necessity. if we had to pay for it? i dunno. maybe. maybe not.

We weren't offered it, so we didn't get to have it. I totally would have, though!
