@Ladyfingers: Are you not using the Aveeno product because it contains salicylic acid? My OB told me that the over-the-counter topical products I apply to my face were fine during pregnancy, and that it is products like prescription-strength retinoids that were supposed to be avoided. His response was "are you going to ingest it? If not, it's fine in moderation/light daily use."

Of course, as with everything else, check with your OB too, just to make sure.

My skin's always been pretty good but since getting pregnant I've been having breakouts. Dickenson's witch hazel has a new line of face soaps. I got the plain old cleanser and it's been working pretty well for me. I also use the witch hazel toner. It's nice and not drying.

Cystic Acne has always been my worse enemy since the age of 21. When we were pregnant before our MC my skin was HORRIBLE. It was all over my chin, my scalp and in my ears. No joke! My derm told me to use Finacea at night (LOVE) and said it is safe during pregnancy. I doubled checked with the pharmacy.

My skin care routine worked beautifuly before getting pregnant. So I added Finacea and am happy with it so far.

i had a lot of acne growing up--it's one of the reasons i started taking BCP. now that i'm off, i have broken out. i read somewhere random that yogurt masks each day could help because yogurt has antibacterial properties--i use 2% plain greek yogurt and leave it on for 20 minutes. my skin hasn't cleared up completely (wouldn't that be a miracle), but i do feel like my skin is more calm after the mask. i've also added another face wash to my day--usually i'm a twice a day gal, but now when i get home from work i wash the makeup/grime from my face with a gentle cleanser (cetaphil). these aren't 100% fixes, but i think they help for me. hope you find something that works!

I thought your Header said "Aches in Pregnancy" which I have and then I realised it was "Acne in Pregnancy" and I have that too (boo!).

@LadyFingers - right now I have 3 cycstic bumps on my chin (I'm a lucky gal) and 2 in my ears. I've used Finacea for 5 days and two have come to a head and are healing and the one is just going away. I love it!

I have had to use prescription acne meds my entire adult life, so I feel your pain! Not being able to use them and having horrible skin is one of my big pregnancy fears, but 6 weeks in my face is pretty decent so far. One thing that helps my skin normally is drinking green tea daily--you can get it without caffeine if that's a concern. I've heard that tea tree oil is helpful for acne but haven't tried it myself. Anyway, the thought of green tea makes me want to throw up right now, but if it didn't I would be all over it! If you can stand the thought, it might be something good to try.
