So, for those of you who have been doing this for awhile - what are your favorite pens or pencils? I'm ordering the Basford books as gifts for a few people in my life and wanted to get them the most useful pens/pencils as well.

@coopsmama: bumping your question because I just got a book myself! I was at TJ Maxx getting LO some books for Christmas and this was staring me down. So I had to get it! But I don't know what pencils to get and this thread is so long!

@SweetiePie: Prismacolor color pencils, super good but pricey. Recommend going to Michaels or another big art store where u can try different ones out, to find which ones are best for you.

@gracecat: oh thank you! Those are the ones I sent to my mom and sister for our Christmas list exchange this year. Glad I guessed right

@coopsmama: I ise Staedtler fine liners because I'm a marker person but I do have Prismacolors and if I knew how to use pencils better I think they would be great.

@gracecat: @Bao: @SweetiePie: I went with Prismacolor for the ones I'm gifting, too!

We've been slowly turning our old boss' office into a reading room since he took another job 2 months ago (he had comfy leather chairs in there) and I suggested we needed artwork. A coworker just suggested this

@Bao: I just bought the Harry Potter book to gift to a friend later this month. Want to see some of the pages?

@dc yoga bee: nice shading on the beak! I like the unusual color scheme too.

Does anyone have tips for sharpening their prismacolors? As careful as I try to be I keep breaking the tip and I can never get a fine enough point for all the tiny details.

@Bao: I flipped through it at B&N a few days ago. A lot of the pictures are stills from the movies. There are some others that were better but it wasn't as good as I expected it to be.

@Aria: have you tried an electric sharpener? I have crayolas, but they were breaking like crazy with a handheld sharpener. Electric has been great!

@MrsSRS: I found a video online the other day, so I won't make you go through the trouble! Thank you so much though

@MrsSRS: share a pic from HP once you finish please! Still debating that one...

@gracecat: @Bao: Thanks! I've been practicing my shading! I'm working on the pineapple now. This was done with crayons colored pencils. I really need to use the prismacolor and not just keep looking at them lol.

@Bao: https://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B001E6F108/ref=yo_ii_img?ie=UTF8&psc=1 Pentel color pens. I have the staedtler but wanted some more colors.
GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts
@MrsH: get the 36 count of Staedtler or try Stabilo, those won't bleed through.

@oliviaoblivia: 50 shades of prismacolors - amiright?!
You guys. I haven't coloured in a long time. I miss it. But I'm addicted to minecraft.

@.twist.: I'm not familiar with that...I've heard of it but not sure what it's all about

@Bao: It's a game. I'd relate it closely to lego for a computer/console. lol
