@Bao: @Mrs.KMM: @Mamaof2: Thanks! Now that I've done this one, I have a better idea of what works and what doesn't. Can't wait to start my next one!

I love that a bunch of us got our coloring books on the same day! Mine came yesterday too, I got the secret garden one and the staedtler pens. I've just started the first page but I love the pens and the designs in the book. I'm impressed by the quality and the number of pages in the book! I'll post a pic when I finish the first page. Don't have much time this week but I'm chipping away at it!

@littleredhairedgrl: I just got my Fantastic Cities! It's beautiful but a little overwhelming for me. I'm afraid to screw things up. I need to get over that, it's just coloring!

@TemperanceBrennan: I was looking for this at Tareget today and no luck!! I only found the enchanted garden one.... Was it with the books??

@2farmmoms: I was really impressed with the page quality too. Colouring on it is like colouring on butter! It's amazing. Sure beats the 8 1/2 x 11 I have in my printer! LOL

@hellobeeboston: I bought my copy there. It was on an end cap in the paperback section.

  12. TemperanceBrennan

    pear / 1998 posts

@BadgerMom: I made copies because I didn't want to mess up!
    @rattles: Beautiful!
@hellobeeboston: Yep, it was at the bottom of the end cap next to the garden and forest ones. I went to my other Target the other day, and they only had the cities, not the other two. Keep checking back!

@rattles: Thank you!!! Seeing a finished page totally gives me motivation to start!

@hellobeeboston: I looked all over the book section at my Target and didn't see any... Maybe only select Target's got them? I ordered it on Amazon.

@.twist.: same here. I printed a few out because I was so impatient and I didn't even finish them because I hated coloring on the crappy paper.

@BadgerMom: yeah I think I'm just going to get it from Amazon! Thx!

  16. .twist.

@2farmmoms: I did the same, finished and loved them. Then I coloured in the book, looked at the old, terrible pages and just said "dammit, those are shit! Get them out of my sight!".

    hah.

I want to jump on the bandwagon! What book do you recommend for someone who is NOT an artist? A lot of these look super intricate and I don't know that I could stay in the lines

  18. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@daniellemybelle: I'm not much of an artist, but the enhanced forest one is perfect. It's only $9 on Amazon, and although it's detailed it's pretty easy to color, just time consuming. You'll love it!

  19. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@rattles: whah....how long did that take you?

  20. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@daniellemybelle: here is one that isn't as detailed as some.

@Bao: You really started something with this thread. Look how many people (including myself) have ordered coloring books in the past week! I took your advice and got the Enchanted Forest book and I'm really happy with it so far.

I've been wanting to try this for a while, since I always enjoy coloring with M in her books

Just saw some cool Day of the Dead coloring books on Amazon that I thought would be nice for Halloween.

Do people prefer thin pens or pencils?

  23. rattles

    grapefruit / 4903 posts

@Bao: Maybe four hours? DH is in grad school part time, so he doesn't get home from work until 9:30ish. I've been having a cocktail and coloring or reading for an hour or two after the girls go down, and I worked on that over three evenings.

@daniellemybelle: I'd recommend pencils rather than markers if you're worried about staying in the lines. I'm rather lazy/loose with strokes (since the point for me is to relax), but I don't think you can tell that with the finished product. Plus it's counterintuitive, but I kind of feel like the intricacies hide that?

  24. Bao

    GOLD / wonderful apricot / 22276 posts

@fancyfunction: I really like markers but I've always been a marker person. @daniellemybelle: I went out of the lines quite a bit with the markers in that photo, it's hard to tell though.

  34. Aria

    persimmon / 1121 posts

@Bao: I used prismacolor colored pencils.
@abbydabbydoodlebug: no special technique, I just have a set of pencils that blend nicely and a lot of shades of orange/yellow.
