I wrote on your other post, but we were high risk for a few reasons. Downs was 1/25, and my hormones showed high likelihood for turners syndrome. We ended up with a cvs and there was nothing wrong. They cast the net wide to try to catch every baby with defects but in that process, a lot of healthy ones get snagged. 1/500 is 0.2%. Every baby has a 2-3% likelihood of delays....so your risk of downs is less than that! Far less. And those measurements are borderline! So I would try not to worry too much, although I know that's a moot thing to tell a pregnant woman. Hang in there!

My cousin has been told that due to large head circumference during scans... her babies just have big heads and are perfectly healthy! Like @blackbird: said, they have to put wide metrics/measurements on the data which can cause worry when there's nothing wrong. Every baby is different and no two have all the same numbers, so some variety is to be expected and perfectly normal.

I didn't have an above average risk for Downs, but I had an amnio anyway. I wanted to know for sure.

My first anatomy scan showed markers for downs, but the more detailed scans showed everything is normal. I was told by my midwife and MFM that it's fairly common to have these extra scans when you've got a stubborn baby (check!) or not an especially detailed ultrasound machine (check!) or if your scan is done somewhere that isn't specifically for prenatal scans (check!).

We were higher than normal risk for Downs...1 in 250. It worried me sick and was after my 12 week NT scan blood work came back. They didn't see any additional issue at the anatomy scan, but I remained high risk.

LO will be 2 in September and he does not have Downs Syndrome.

@Sophs Mama: Sorry that you're having to go through this worry It adds so much stress to what should be such a happy time!

When I was pregnant with my daughter our anatomy scan showed an EIF - basically a bright spot in the heart that is not a concern for the baby's health but is sometimes a marker for Downs (I'm not sure what our risk was statistically). I was offered an amnio but we declined. We were stressed, but finally came to peace with it and our daughter does not have Downs.

Yesterday I had my anatomy scan for baby #2 (a boy!) and were told that his kidneys are dilated and that this can be a concern both for kidney function and a marker for Downs. So frustrating to go through this fear again! I am a little less worried because we have gone though this once and had it be nothing. Luckily technology has advanced and they drew blood for the Panorama screen yesterday so we will be able to get a better idea of our Downs risk. I can see why you would wait as it is not covered for you. I hope that your next ultrasound is perfect, but even if it's not I can tell you that I've been in this boat before and am now finding myself in it again!
