Do you give "traditional" anniversary gifts?
If so, what have you given?
I'm coming up on two years, and cotton seems like a dumb gift. lol
DH doesn't need clothes and he only appreciates them if he needs them. He doesn't really care about linens so new sheets or a throw pillow would be lost on him.
any other ideas?
For 1 year, I did a bunch of groupons for his favorite things (meat from the butcher, sandwiches from a deli, tickets to a golf tournament, dinner out with me, etc)

@MaryM: For our 2 year anniversary I got DH a hoodie with his favorite team's logo on it. He loves it and wears it all the time!

Hammock (we love ours)
Apron for grilling
Robe
Slippers
Cotton tie or handkerchiefs if he wears suits often
Use cotton as part of the presentation/wrapping - Have him go on a treasure hunt to find his gift by following a cotton string around to clues.

I think my husband is just difficult. Lol!
He never wears suits. I got him handkerchiefs for Christmas so he'd stop taking wash clothes to summer weddings (I'm not sure why he thought that was acceptable for wiping the sweat off his head??)
and he doesn't wear aprons, robes, or slippers. or sweatshirts really. Ugh.
I might fall back on a golf shirt. he has 12 million, but it's pretty much all he wears.
His likes are golf (watching and playing), football (watching), and bourbon.
I LOVE the hammock idea...if we had a bigger backyard.

My husband is difficult too so I completely understand. We are coming up on 2 years as well, but I'm not sure what I'm going to get him. I was initially going to suggest a jersey for his favorite sports team (not always cotton, does it matter?).
My husband loves bourbon too. You could do something like his favorite bottle with some cocktail napkins or these fun coasters http://www.westelm.com/products/mrk-happy-hour-coasters-e725/?pkey=chost-hostess-gifts&

For 2 year anniversary I gave him a picnic blanket (from our alma mater) with our last name embroidered on it and some other picnic supplies, and we had a picnic

@MrsPastryLady: That's not a bad idea. I could make some coasters and get a high end bottle for him.
I have quilt squares we used to make blocks for our guest book. Maybe I have enough of that fabric left to make coasters (so they're sort of wedding/anniversary-like.)
If not, maybe I can find some burgundy and gold so they're sort of football festive. that's a great idea!

For our 2 year, he got one of our wedding pics put on a canvas and I actually got a canvas made where it is a map with a heart on the spot where we first met with the saying "Where it all began" on it. I loved that we both went for the canvas idea.

For our two years in March, DH got me books for our cruise, and I got him clothes for the cruise. The cruise was really our gifts to each other, but we counted the books and clothes lol

We got a together gift of new sheets for our shared bed. AKA he was "letting" buy fancier sheets for our bed.
DH had his doubts but I got some good quality sheets and he noticed the difference and loved it.

We never do gifts. Just a nice dinner and cards.
Although for our 2nd, he bought me a gift card to Gymboree so we could get out nugget some clothes. We had just found out that we were having a girl.

I remembered we got a bag of grits in a canvas like bag on our honeymoon in charleston. I think it's the perfect size to make four coasters, and they'll have added meaning!
Now I just have to pick up matching flannel for the backs.

We planned on buying a new couch/arm chair and decided to count them as our gifts, but then we didn't buy it until almost 9 months later 
...I think they were still our anniversary gifts though. We did a nice dinner in addition.

Update!
Yesterday I finished making coasters out of the bag of grits. Now I just need to get to a liquor store during business hours (it was closed when I got there yesterday) so I can get DH some bourbon.
