When the doorbell rings and I'm not expecting anyone, 9 times out of 10 I will play "not home." I usually go and peak out the bedroom window to see who it is to make sure it's not family/friends, but if it's someone selling something I play gone...even with the dog going crazy! ha Anyone else do this?

I ALWAYS pretend I'm not home! Especially if I'm alone. I'll just turn the TV down and wait until they leave! It helps that our doorbell is broken too, haha.

It's hard for me to do that now with LO. She makes a lot of noise so they know I'm home.

I do this too but our living room is right next to the front door so whoever is at the door can usually hear the tv or LO playing. If I'm in our basement or in the bedrooms though I'll totally play not home haha.

@Adira: Haha I don't even turn down the TV, I'm sure it's obvious but I don't care.
The worst was when I didn't answer, and the dog was out back (no fence on a chain), they saw me let her back in when they were walking to the next house...duh! haha they didn't come back though!

I never open the door for solicitors anymore. We do peer through the peep hole to see who it is. Yes, our dog goes crazy, too.
We are actually getting a no soliciting sign so they stop. I swear, we have one a day.

We live in an apartment building with an intercom that I can talk to people through, so I will often ignore the first buzz if I'm not expecting someone, sometimes our neighbors guests will buzz random buzzers if they don't get buzzed in right away grrrr. If they buzz again I ask who it is, but I don't buzz people in the building without knowing who they are. We don't live in a great neighborhood.
