@MamaMoose: Lol - it does feel better, but some injections aren't supposed to be rubbed as it can affect the absorption (for lack of a better word) of the drug. Although I don't know whether this is a can or can't be rubbed type injection (the doc usually tells you, though).

@MamaMoose: I'm certainly no expert. I know it's true for some meds (like insulin), and sometimes it is cautioned against for other reasons (like to prevent bruising and other complications).

A- here. I just hope I'm not having one of my "needles are evil" days - don't know why, but twice in my life, normal IVs have hurt enough to make me twitch (once was in the earliest phase of toxic epidermal necrolysis, though, so that was explicable.)

My mom had 3 miscarriages in the 80's do to the rh factor. I'm really nervous I'll have the same. How soon should they test for it? My appointment isn't until the 26th.

Not pregnant now, but I'm A- and have had the RhoGam shot. It really wasn't a big deal and I'm a baby when it comes to needles! I didn't even feel it. It was a little sore for a day or two afterwards and that was it. DS ended up being A- as well so I only had to have one shot.

@photojane: I didn't have the shot until I was 28wks. They checked my blood type when they tested to confirm my pregnancy and we discussed that I would need the shot at my first appointment. I'm pretty sure that you would only need the shot early if you have had a miscarriage before.

I am O- and my DH knew he was B- but they made me get the injection just in case, for me it was no different than any other IM injection, I didn't think it hurt.

I'm O-, so I'll be getting a shot. I'm not really that worried about it because I don't have a shot phobia.

I had the shot AFTER giving birth, while I was in the hospital. So by that time it seemed like no big whoop.

I am! I am such a baby about needles and honestly, it didn't bother me at all getting the Rhogam shot. I was more annoyed at how much I had to pay for it since my insurance didn't cover it.

RH- here too! I don't like shots, but I don't really have a needle-phobia so I think I'll be okay. I'll make sure to schedule that appointment at the end of the day so I can go home in case the injection spot is sore.

I'm RH negative. The shot I had after my first MC was not too bad. Mostly I find there is a lot of misinformation out there... people panic when they find out I'm RH negative... awkward.

I am A- and I had some spotting early on so I first got the shot around 8 weeks. I'll get another one at 28wks and then once the baby is born. I didn't think the shot hurt and they put it in my upper arm. It was like getting a flu shot. If I remember correctly, I think my arm was a little sore that day, like I overworked/exercised the muscle.

Just got my first Rhogam shot at 28 weeks this morning. It hurt at the time but isn't bothering me anymore.

It isn't too bad. I actually didn't need it because both DH and I are -, but MD wanted to be on the safe side. I thought the pertussis vaccine I just got was worse in the arm.

I had mine done at 28 weeks (now 37) and it didn't hurt at all! I jumped when she first stuck me but it really was not nearly as bad as the TDap, to be honest. I wasn't even sore after or later on.

The nurse did my upper right butt cheek, though, near my hip - so that might have come into play.
