I will be 6 weeks tomorrow. I was cramping a bit, so went to check and just found some heavy bright red bleeding.
It's now just some old blood and the cramping has stopped, but I'm terrified. Im supposed to call my Drs office in the morning, but he didn't sound very positive on the phone.
I'm already thinking the worst, please tell me some stories where it turned out ok.

Not at 6 weeks, but I had a gush of bright red blood at 10 weeks followed by some brown spotting and it turned out that I had bled out a small sub chorionic hematoma. The pregnancy was uneventful after that!

@Crystal: with my last pregnancy I had pinkish brown spotting at six weeks. She's sleeping next to me right now.
With this pregnancy I had heavy bleeding at what was six weeks. Heavy enough that I thought it was a period. It lasted five days. Had a scan thinking I was five-ish weeks along and found a healthy kicking ten week baby in there. My "period" was NOT a period. I've had twenty years of periods and this was no different. Heavy crampy ongoing bloody yuckyness.

I had bright red blood (a gush), although it was earlier on (3 w 5 days). I was convinced I was having a chemical as the blood turned brown but continued a few more days. I then had brown and red in a "gush" at 6 w 5 days. No cramping either time, but my pregnancy resulted in a healthy baby so wanted to share a happy outcome with you. Keep us posted

I had bleeding between 6-8 weeks. I went into the hospital freaking out. Turns out it was nothing to freak out over. The baby had a good heart rate and was good in measurements. They didn't find the source of the bleeding. I was told I may have just over done it and tore something in there somehow. They baby turned out perfect. He is now sleeping next to me as I type this!

I had bleeding at about 5 weeks with this pregnancy. I had a SCH and what turned out to look like a vanishing twin (which also went with the originally very high betas followed by increasing but slowing betas.) My doctor wasn't very optimistic either. 
It took until my third ultrasound at closer to 7 weeks before we could clearly see the heartbeat. At 5 weeks I had been cramping since the night before on and off, then had some really bad cramping and about half an hour later a gush of red blood. Went to the ER but wasn't able to get definitive answers until a couple weeks later. Eta, I'm 26 weeks now and baby seems to be totally normal.
I hope everything is ok. I've read a lot of stories online with bleeding in the beginning. It's not "normal" but it's not that uncommon either. Sending hugs your way.

@Crystal: i had spotting from week 6 that turned to bright red blood. It went back and forth between Brown,pink and bright red. Then at 12 weeks had an insane gush that went through my pants bedsheets everything,no cramping, turned out I was passing my SCH. I am currently nursing my babies from that pregnancy. I am truly hoping for the best for you. Praying so hard.

I had a swipe of old blood with this pregnancy, and now I'm 38 weeks. My sister had weeks of bleeding in her last pregnancy, starting at about 6 weeks, and that kid just turned one. There is hope!

@Crystal: praying for you, dear!! Yes, I bled a fair bit one day at 5wks. Got to add an early u/s @6 wks, in addition to the one our RE scheduled for 7wks, so we got to see hb's at both & then had an uneventful pregnancy & a beautiful baby girl!!

@Crystal: I had bleeding (ranging in color from brown to pink to some bright red) on and off from 15 dpo to 6w6d or so. I was an anxious mess - POASed like crazy which eased my anxiety but was a colossal waste of money! My OB said it was probably just a friable cervix. I went on to have a really uneventful pregnancy and I'm nursing my 10 month old DS right now
Try not to worry (easier said than done though) and thinking good thoughts for you

I had some bleeding at 8 weeks. I freaked out. It wasn't heavy, more of a bright pink/red spotting for about a week. But I also had intense cramping as well. When I called, the doctor said it could be the embryo implanting further in. They checked at my appointment the next week, and everything was okay. Thinking of you.

I had bleeding (bright red, a fair amount) when I was 6 weeks on the dot. It was my birthday and I thought what a horrible thing, to miscarry on my birthday. I called my doctor, but wasn't able to get in for a scan until 6 days later, because they wanted to wait until closer to 7 weeks to have a better chance of seeing a heartbeat. At the ultrasound, babies heartbeat was thumping away. I've never been more relieved! pregnancy continued on completely normally after that.

@Crystal: I think it's a very good sign that the red bleeding and cramping have stopped. When I miscarried before my son I had light spotting and cramps that gradually got heavier over the following week.
With this pregnancy I had a gush of reddish-orangish blood + cramping around 8 weeks, and spotted (mostly old) for about 3 weeks after. I'm almost 16 weeks and have had 3 great scans, and my doctors are pretty sure it was a sub-chorionic hematoma.
I hope you get some good news today, and my fingers and toes are crossed for you and baby!

@Crystal: every pregnancy. With my second I had a SCH, and I bled a lot. With my third, it was nothing, but I did bleed a lot. With this pregnancy, it wasn't a lot but it would go between brown discharge and red spotting, for no reason. I am now 14 weeks 4 days and the other two pregnancies resulted in two health boys

Mine was earlier than 6 weeks, but it was cramping and bright red bleeding. Freaked me out. Had to do an u/s, didn't see anything but said it might be too early. went back a week or two later and there she was. I'm 33+3 now. The cramping and bleeding started fairly suddenly and stopped the same way, but having BOTH freaked me out. Still have no real idea why it happened but it ended up being ok for us. Hope you are the same way!

I had all levels of bleeding from 5 weeks to 13 weeks with LO #1, and never found any issues with baby's health (although I was monitored closely since it continued into second tri)

@lovehoneybee: when I miscarried the last time, I had one brief incident of light spotting, then oldish blood for about a week. This time, I had nothing at all, then a lot of red blood come out of no where. Thank you for the good thoughts.

@Crystal: have you gone to OB? I had bright red bleeding at 8 weeks. At that time it was determined I had a vanishing twin. However, the remaining baby was healthy and he's now 3 years old.

@Crystal: I had heavy bleeding at 4 weeks that I thought was a period. It continued until 12 weeks. It was an SCH, and I have a healthy 11 weeks old.
