I don't knit but I love seeing DIY projects - following

I've been knitting since I was a teenager but taught myself how to crochet a couple years ago. I find that crocheting is a lot faster and since you are only dealing with one stitch at a time it's much more forgiving. I just used youtube for tutorials and get most of my patterns online at ravelry.com. Lately I've just been crocheting baby hats/mitts for baby shower gifts. I'll have to take some pics of my current projects when I get home.

@JennyG: I learned when I was young, from my mom and grandmother. When I relearned, I went to youtube. A lot of the basics can be learned there. Also there are tons of patterns and tutorials on Pinterest.

@GreenThumb: Those are awesome! I learned to knit first, but didn't have nearly the amount of patience it requires. I prefer the look of it, but crochet just comes together so much faster!

I love to crochet and mainly make baby blankets and hats. I'll have to see if I can find some pics. It's just really soothing to me.

@mrswin: I knit for several years and never made anything as nice as that blanket, so I think you can stop calling yourself a beginner!

@Pumuckl: I'm the same. I like baby blankets because they're easy to finish before I get too board of them. I did make 3 throws last year for my mom, SIL, and sister though. But one started out as a baby blanket (my mom loved it so added to it), my SIL's started out as a random remnant project, and my sister's I made with a ginormous size Q hook so it worked up super fast!

@MaryM: Thanks! I took a class at a local knitting studio and this is considered a beginner project. It is all just knit and purl stitches so very simple.

I crochet, and just made this baby blanket for a friend.

I made a beard hat for my husband and I love it. I'll take a picture soon and post it.

I crochet! I sold hats for a while, but I got tired of making the same ones over and over. Don't have any pictures of past projects, but I just bought the yarn today for this blanket! My colors will be a little brighter, but close. We just found out we're having a girl, and we're going to call her Daisy as her nickname until she's born (we don't tell names till after birth, but like to have something to call them), so I have to make it!

I made this blanket for DD which she sleeps with every night.

And now I'm going to start working on this one for DS (in different colors) due in March. Hope I finish in time!

off topic, but someone gave us a knit/crocheted (I really don't know the difference!) blanket for our DD that we use quite frequently but I'm afraid to wash it! Do I just throw it in a gentle wash and let air dry?? I figured y'all would know! Thanks!
