At first DH and I declined doing the Panorama genetic testing because of the price. However now I am having second thoughts. SIL had it done and now already knows the gender of her baby (she's 12 weeks)! I really want to know if we're having a boy or a girl!! It would also be nice to know for sure that baby is healthy and everything especially since there is some history of down's syndrome in DH's family.

The thing is, while the test was covered under SIL's insurance in the States, in Canada it is not covered and costs a steep $900. We already spent over $900 on Crinone so my DH doesn't want to spend any more money (understandably).

If you are in Canada and got this test, did you pay out of pocket for it? Is there any circumstances in which Health Canada will cover some or all of this test? Or are we out of luck?

Even if you're not in Canada and got this test (or a similar one) done, are you happy you did it? Do you think it's worth an extra 900 bucks?
