Sending you positive thoughts- hope you passed! I failed my first test and passed the 3 hour... so it can happen!

@artbee: I failed not by a huge margin but enough to need to see a dietician/monitor my blood sugar. I'm trying not to be too upset about it but can't seem to help myself.

@Nskillet: so sorry to hear that! My mom had GD with me and she said it really wasn't a huge deal. You just have to change your diet for a few months (which isn't easy with cravings! ) and when you give birth you won't have to worry about it anymore. Just try to think about your healthy baby and it will all be worth it!

@Nskillet: I got it right before Thanksgiving. It really wasn't that bad. I was actually eating more food than before, but in different combinations and I would allow myself occasional treats but in moderation. I was eating really good food for me and I felt great. Now at 8 weeks after my little guy was born, I am back to my weight at my first appt and my sister says I look better than before I got pregnant.
I wish I could get back to eating the same food now, but it's much harder to prepare that food and try to take care of the little one.
Also do some searches for other threads and I shared some typical foods I ate, but check with your dietician first. Good luck! It's really not that bad.

@BabyBruins: thanks for this post! You really made me feel more confident. Not sure when my dietician appt is but am anxious to start eating the diet. A lot of women say it made them feel good/maintain weight gain etc.
Do you mind me asking how your labor/delivery was? How big was your baby? How was checking your blood sugar? Thanks

I had GD with my first pregnancy and also with this one. And I met with a GD dietician both times. I had to monitor my food and take my glucose test 4x a day. I know how you feel though. At first it's a little scary but seriously, you get used to it after a while and it TOTALL changes the way you eat, even after you deliver. My DH was on the diet with me (to be supportive) and he lost 8 lbs. It's actually a really really good way to eat. Even after I delivered my son, I still continued the diet (with more leniency of course! ) If you have any questions at all, just "wall" me and we can chat if you'd like.

@Nskillet: i ended up having preeclampsia and delivering via csection 6 weeks early. He was 4 lbs 12 oz, but only measuring slightly ahead during my visits. He only spent 1 extra day in the NICU and probably could have gone home with me. He is doing great now, we successfully switched over from bottle feeding to breast feeding and he has already gained over 2 lbs.
I don't think the GD had anything to do with my preeclampsia.

@Nskillet: Oh and the blood sugar testing was not that bad. In 6 weeks I only had a handful that were too high and I know exactly why.
You'll do great and probably feel better because of the food you'll be eating.

I just got diagnosed with GD 3 weeks ago. It really isn't so bad. I test my sugars 4 times per day (first thing in the morning, and 2 hours after each meal), I got a meter with alternate site testing, so I poke my arm instead of my finger (it hurts 100% less). The diet isn't so bad, I just have to watch the amount of carbs (portion control) but I can eat as many proteins/non-starchy veggies as I want, and you need to incorporate 3 dairy servings per day (like sugar free ice cream/fro yo/yogurt/milk or cheese). I find that it is a lot of food, and I am never hungry, and my sugars are amazing.
